As expected, former Penn State quarterback Pat Devlin committed to Delaware, a source close to Devlin told The Inquirer today. Devlin, along with his parents, Mark and Connie, visited the Newark campus this weekend and gave coach K.C. Keeler his pledge upon the conclusion of the visit. Devlin, a former high school all-American at Downingtown East, transferred out of the Penn State two weeks ago after a season as the backup to Daryll Clark.

Because he's transferring to a Division I-AA school, Devlin will have two years of eligibility as opposed to just one had he moved to a Division I-A program. The sophomore is expected to be enrolled at Delaware by Jan. 5 and early enough to participate in spring practice. Check tomorrow's newspaper for more.

Is this a good pick up? I've never know Penn St to have flashy QBs.

Apparently 3-8 didn't sit too well with the UD faithful...

Perhaps we should only post when UD DOESN'T accept a D1 transfer....

89Hen, relay this message to Keeler: An FCS team is more than just transfers.

it would be really tough as a HC if you had these guys dropping your lap like this and after Flaco's success the pro scouts will probably have their eyes on guys like this but especially at Delaware just because of Flacco. The thing you gotta wonder is how many times can Keeler do this before he totally erodes his recruiting integrity with the guys that accept to go to UD? i would bet a lot of UD fans are fairly conflicted over this as it does seem to be going to the well a couple too many times at this point.

I don't begrudge UD for this, just like to bust 89Hen's chops every opportunity I can get....

Oh, there's that and the fact that you guys have a recruiting program that brings in guys to the program like Armanti. I mean Sheeit brother that guy wasn't even a full time starter until his first game as a Sophmore. After he's done you've got the King of Rock n' Rolls offspring coming in after watching and learning a few years of understudy with "Lightening Jesus."
