Head Coach Jay Mills, Buccaneers Meet With Media for 2011 CSU Football Media Day

Charleston Southern Head Coach, Jay Mills, on the 2011 season...
"The 2011 season, my ninth, is one of the first times we will return a complete a staff so I’m very excited about that. It provides us with a great sense of leadership and maturity which is important because we enter the season with one of the youngest groups we’ve had. We have 39 redshirt or true freshmen this year and 18 sophomores, and the rest are upperclassmen. There’s a good youthfulness, but a good talent level as well.”
One of the day’s highlights was Director of Athletics Hank Small’s announcement of the new football and track & field facility to be built this season. The ground-breaking ceremony will be held during the University’s Homecoming Weekend on October 1. The Buccaneers will host Wesley College at 1:30 p.m. that weekend. The official announcement regarding the new facility will occur on Monday, August 15.

Senior Strong Safety Chris Kuzdale...
"The talent level here has really increased over the last few years. There are some really good young players in the program right now. It's an exciting time for me to be a part of the program and to watch those younger guys step up as leaders for us."
"The one thing about playing at CSU is we will go play anywhere against anyone," said Kuzdale. "We've played Florida and Miami, Hawaii, Kentucky. Now we have these three games, all in Florida. It's exciting for me and for a lot of these guys. We have a lot of players from Florida, and it's great we get to go back and show off a great university to our friends."

CSU gets a nice paycheck, but doesn't pay the hospital bill for the hospitalized Bucs. :ohno:

Hospital bill from what?

There is zero evidence that FCS players get hurt during FBS games at a higher rate than against FCS players....There isn't *that* much difference between them

Well that's pretty funny. Two Citadel fans make comments about Charleston Southern football.

When was the last time The Citadel was relevant and competitive in the SoCon? The Citadel is a non-factor in SoCon football so you feel the need to comment on a crosstown competitor whom you consider to be non-relevant.

Charleston Southern must be more relevant than you let on if you feel the need to make comments like that.

CLASSLESS!!!

I'd say going to Boone ranked #12 in the country in 2008 is more impressive than ANYTHING baptist college has EVER done.

Your chicks put out though.

I posted the Charleston Southern Media Day information to bring exposuure to our program and to inform the masses here as fans of FCS football. As Charleston Southern football fans, we know our history, we know where we've come from. Yes, prior to Coach Mills arriving at CSU, the history was nothing to brag about at all. In fact, it was quite shameful. Any Charleston Southern fan will agree with that.

However, we're proud of where we've come from under Coach Mills' leadership. We're proud of where we are. We're more proud of where we're going. We are clearly headed in the right direction. It is slower than it is at most schools, but it is going to happen and is happening right now.

We are going to announce facility expansion plans tomorrow (Monday, August 15). I'm sure people will claim they have better answers for that, have better ideas, claim it isn't right or isn't enough, whatever. We are making progress and that is all that matters.

It is just comical that the post about our Media Day had nothing to do with The Citadel or any other school for that matter, but Citadel fans felt threatened enough or felt some other need to be classless and make useless comments.

I cannot wait until we make our way across town again to meet on the football field. It should be a yearly date, but that is a whole other discussion.

You throw something like that out you better have some specifics to back it. Now provide details or retract this ludicrous statement.

OK Alvin, no details I am throwing your comment in the BS folder. You must be a political campaign adviser because they do this kind of crap all the time to throw doubt into the minds of potential adversarial voters.

BucDaddy, I was referring to the upcoming beatdowns from UCF & FSU. Here's some humble advice: slowly step away from the computer, put down the sword, find the largest chair you can and GET OVER YOURSELF. Retractions? What is this -- the New York Times?

I forgot they don't teach you guys proper tense in your freshman english comp classes. As far as the upcoming beat downs lets talk about the dogs physical situation after the last time we played you. Why do you think your AD bought out the last two years of the contract and refused to play us again? We have come out of every game with BCS opponents in pretty decent health. No injuries other than the stand bumps and bruises you get in any game and you can attribute that directly to the strength and conditioning coach Tobias Jacobi.

Anyway nice recovery from sticking you foot in your mouth.

Nothing more unintentionally humorous than receiving poor marks in grammar from someone who speaks Pirate English. Or maybe you just have trouble typing with a hook and black eyepatch.

It is now Tuesday, August 16 and I can't find anything about this on your athletic site. Was anything announced?

I was watching it yesterday also and didn't see anything. I don't know what the delay is. I live about 2 hrs away so I can't keep very close attention to it through the media. I have only the athletics website, Facebook, and YouTube. I wish I knew. I don't like that they put that date out there and didn't do anything. I know most of the action will take place on Homecoming weekend as stated in the release, but I thought something would be released yesterday.

Perhaps CSUBUCDAD may have some information since he lives closer and is likely a little better able to find out some details.

They put up an event notice on Facebook for October 1st. Groundbreaking ceremony. I can't find anything in the local media announcing it either.

BucDaddy, did you enlist Grizzlyman to take offense on your behalf? C'mon now -- fight your own battles of playful banter. Here all along I thought we were going to be friends.
