Barring something more concrete than a message board post, it sounds as if people may be over-reacting to an isolated incident. Every team has a creep or two, but whitewashing the entire team as such does nobody any good and could serve to kill the gate. Sac went through this a few years ago with an incident at a bar near campus, but by no means was the entire team implicated. I'm sure just about every other program here has similar stories. People shoud be ashamed for slinging this innuendo at the entire team.

Uh, just skimmed the thread... but, I didn't see what the big deal was. Apparently some players made some vulgar and sexist comments? Oh no.




edit: also, a suspicious number of posters discussing how wonderful and classy all the Georgia Southern players are. how many Boone locals have had any sort of interaction with Georgia Southern football players? Sounds like GSU fans trolling Topix.com (whatever the fuck that is).

Here is a little hint for yah: Note how all the 'other' posters have the same sentence structure and form as the *GaladrielNC* poster - even the same double spacing between some words within sentences.

Capitalize 'I' at the start of a sentence -- then use 'i' within the sentence.

Note how none of the contractions used by any of the so-called 'different posters' uses apostrophes.

I also enjoyed the "I saw a post which is no longer there" as the actual basis for the propaganda.

And to top it all, the snide remarks and allegations about the Appalachian coaching staff, backed up with the 'nice and respectful GSU team that has more class' commentary.

Every college football team has its bad apples. When I was in school I was in a social com class with a player's wife and she had no qualms being critical about the entitlement many college athletes feel (and not just football). I have an extensive network of buddies and friends at schools all over the region and I hear the same things. At the ACC schools in the area, coaching staffs have players pretty much keep the players isolated from the rest of campus to keep them out of trouble. They live together, go to classes together, then go straight to the athletic center to hang out/practice.

How many more programs need to have so-called problems like this before it's no longer "news"? Honestly, I don't care who made sexist comments about whom. Charlie Sheen can say whatever he wants because he's an actor, and he'll still get another job. There's a double standard for athletes, even the "amateur" ones.
