ST. LOUIS — ESPN has reached an agreement with the Missouri Valley Football Conference to air as many as five telecasts on ESPN3.com during the 2011 college football season.

Missouri Valley Football Commissioner Patty Viverito said in a release that “the availability of these games on ESPN3.com allows fans to watch live events across multiple screens, whether that’s through Xbox LIVE on your TV screen, or while on the go on your smartphone, tablet or laptop. ESPN3.com is currently available in approximately 70 million homes and has established itself as a standalone network with mainstream appeal in a fast-paced digital media world.”

“ESPN3.com continues to grow as a leading destination and a key distribution outlet for reaching the college sports fan,” said Damon Phillips, Vice President, ESPN3.com. “We are looking forward to working with the Missouri Valley Football Conference to produce and distribute these exclusive games.”

As part of the agreement, ESPN3.com will carry at least 3 exclusive college football games from the Missouri Valley Football Conference beginning this season. They include:

Date, Time (CT), Game
Oct. 8, 2:00 p.m., North Dakota State at Southern Illinois

Oct. 15, 6:00 p.m., Northern Iowa at South Dakota State

Oct. 22, 1:00 p.m., Indiana State at Illinois State

If I were Western Illinois or Youngstown State, I would not be happy about this. Western Illinois went to the playoffs last year and was a potential deep threat. This year, they don't even get an ESPN3.com conference game guaranteed.

Wait.

Are you telling me that the NDSU vs Lafayette game will NOT be televised by ESPN3?

Do they NOT understand that this is a "spotlight" game?

WIU should be bottom of the league this year.

ISUR is probably top 4 or 5 if they found a defense.

I'd bet the UNI/SUU game in Cedar Falls will make the cut due to the likelyhood it will be a top 10/15 match up if all goes as "should" this year.

If YSU is in the Top 25 on October 10th, I see no reason for them not to get one of those final two wildcard games.. Again.... IF YSU is in the Top 25 at that time.

NDSU will be getting both wildcard games. They're a program of national significance, you know. :coffee: :kisswink: :tothehand:

One of the NDSU broadcasts will be the bye week, so the screen won't be cluttered by opposing players getting in the way of the specimens from the conglomerate.
