It's preseason, and one of several guesses. I doubt many people put a lot of faith in these things until you get a few games under your belt for the season. I doubt we'll we're the best in the SoCon, much less the country.

As long as #2 is your QB, I'll be an ASU Supporter

ASU #1 is crazy. Too many questions at WR, OL, and defensive scheme. By the end of the year they may be a top 5 team, but preseason no way.

This is a gem. What has him so high on a 6-5 McNeese St. team that got POUNDED by Cal Poly?

This "poll" is pretty bad.

Don't necessarily agree with what lakes said but yes, NDSU should be ranked.

Good Poll! EWU is about right, considering the officiating controversies they encountered during their impressive playoff run, but graduation and defections will take their toll. Its also highly unlikely those things will ever happen again.
NDSU is about right a little higher would have certainly been justified but 10 is a good spot to start from.
Lehighs win over UNI at the UNI Dome last year in the first round of the playoffs doesn't seem to have hurt UNI any but the big win is certainly getting the Lehigh program some notice. #10 NDSU opens the season against one of the PL contenders th Lafayetter Leopards.

David Coulson wrote:Appalachian State, the winner of three consecutive national championships from 2005-07 and coming off two quarterfinal appearances and one semifinal finish in the past three years, is ranked No. 1 in 2011 in a poll conducted by the staff of CSN
This could mean almost anything. Like even Coulson just made it up himself. Like we wouldn't be surprised by that trash.
Dude didn't even bother to proof his copy. How do dummies like this get any play?

This is possibly the most pathetic pre-season poll I have see so far.

David Coulson is a homer. Appalachian has been decimated by graduation, injuries, guys leaving the program and academic suspensions. IF they are lucky they will be fighting Furman for 4th in the SoCon and will need a 'gift' into the playoffs at 7-4.
Otherwise, the poll is not that bad. Good to see Lehigh up there, and the Ivy love, too. The MEAC is about right - this is a make or break year for them to break through with a playoff win -- SC State & BC were a big let down last year.

The fact that he has two teams from both the SoCon and CAA above the reigning National Champs, who bring back 15 starters and beat the top two CAA teams from last year WITHOUT our best player.... yeah, what a jewbag. This poll is more worthless than JBB's "prognosticating."

There is so much absurdity in this 'poll' that it doesn't deserve the attention we're giving it. That said, Villanova at #11? Richmond doesn't even garner a vote?
Let me guess, the 2 voters in this 'poll' are Davey Boy and Terence Thomas? That would be the only rational explanation for several discrepancies here. The dick stuck in Ralph deal could be a factor too.

I dispute that Coulson is a homer. I mean, he didn't even mention the stunning 2007 win over Michigan in the Big House in the first paragraph. Clearly, Fox News kind of stuff.

I'm ok with where we're ranked........I hope we never lose that chip on our shoulders approach. But the rest of this poll is pretty garbage to be honest.
