I would have been OK with that too.DJH wrote:Game should be moved back to December. Totally retarded to have that layoff.
As always, that will depend on who is playing in the game.bluehenbillk wrote:MUCH better for attendance, I'll be surprised if it's not a near-capacity crowd.

No time off for your stay in jail?lakesbison wrote:Already on my schedule, work off for that thursday friday AND monday (to recover)
Sure, the teams will have an effect on attendance, but I was at the game this year & conversed with a lot of locals who all said the same thing: "Why are they playing this game at 6:00pm local time on a Friday night on the outskirts of DFW?" Asking locals to fight thru rush hour traffic or take off work to make the game. Frisco is located above the Metroplex so it can be a drive for some people - but they all said they knew a lot more people that knew about the game & were interested. Hey I'm as big a UD fan as there is - UD playing EWU added no extra incentive for people living in TX to goto the NC game.89Hen wrote:As always, that will depend on who is playing in the game.bluehenbillk wrote:MUCH better for attendance, I'll be surprised if it's not a near-capacity crowd.

Agree. Even from a neutral fan's (my) perspective, it's a great excuse to hit a bar and start drinking at 11 a.m.GannonFan wrote:From a fan standpoint how can you not like this? First of all, it's not going up against anything - not going up against the Cotton Bowl in the same city, and the NFL playoffs that start then don't have a game until something like 4 or 4:30. Second, having it on a Saturday is a huge, huge benefit for a fan trying to get down to the game. Rather than having to take 1-2 days off from work or school, now you could conceivably not have to take any time off and still get to go to the game. January is still the better time as you actually can take a breath and make plans to get there, as opposed to scrambling to get to a game in 6 days. And, if that 1PM start is Eastern time, that means that the game starts at 12 Noon central time which means, that's right, SCRAPPLE for the pre-game tailgate!!!!!!!
I think we're all so conditioned to complain about the NCAA that when they actually make a real good decision like this one that we automatically pooh-pooh it - in reality, this is a win for most everyone. Way to go, NCAA!!!!

the BBVA Compass Bowl will be played that day at the same timeclenz wrote:I'm not sure I like the 1PM start, I would think 6 or 7 would be better, but I don't know what bowl games are that night.
However, for attendance this is great.

Yeah, the SEC's 9th bowl eligible team versus a similarly low team from the Big East. And if either conference can't supply a team, a bowl eligible team from the Sun Belt could get the nod. Last year 7-5 Pitt took on 6-6 Kentucky. I don't know how I'll stop myself from turning that game on.tampajag wrote:the BBVA Compass Bowl will be played that day at the same timeclenz wrote:I'm not sure I like the 1PM start, I would think 6 or 7 would be better, but I don't know what bowl games are that night.

It's a pretty easy choice for me on what to watch, that bowl never has good match ups anyway.GannonFan wrote:Yeah, the SEC's 9th bowl eligible team versus a similarly low team from the Big East.
