Northern Colorado without Jace Davis this year

Based upon everything I have heard from inside the program Northern Colorado will not have 1st team Big Sky WR Jace Davis this season due to academic ineligibility. He will use his red shirt this season to get his grades back on track. The Bears still have a decent WR corps but would have been way better with Davis this season. Hopefully everything works out so he can return next year.

That sucks, he's a solid player. Hopefully he'll get it turned around and come back with a solid season in 2012.

Don't belittle him. He's more than a "solid" player. He's a very good player.

You said he was a "solid" player. That's selling the kid short. He's a very good player, not just "solid"

We will miss Jace, but as was said earlier, we do have depth at that position. More catches for Morris, Gunn, Walker and Steele. We will be fine.

It really makes you wonder when you see these college kids become academically ineligible. It happens at every school, but how can they not put a little effort into going to class. It's not like you need great grades to be eligible.

Are some of these kids just so dumb that they can't handle school, or are they just lazy. I'm thinking it's the kid being a pile in most cases. It's sad that kids would throw away a free education, most people would love to come out of college and have very little to no student loans.

Happens all the time at just about every school, unfortunately. I'm sure every situation is different. Probably laziness in some cases, although I'd offer that some kids just have a hard time in the classroom even if they do have a good work ethic. Hopefully kids like Jace and the other Davis (Orenzo) at MSU can turn it around and come back and have productive college careers. So he has to burn his redshirt year to get his academics in order....not the end of the world and I'm sure he'll be back next season.

This pic reminds me of the "hit stick" they had on the NCAA football game.

Probably. I just remember the players would always have their arms extended like JC Sherritt whenever you hit the stick.

Also "solid" is a term I use on players when I see them as a player who always has consistent performances on the field week in and week out and is always dependable to make a play. I'm not sure why BSB thought it was a knock.

I didn't take it as a knock, but I equate the term "solid" as someone who is good, but maybe not very good. But that's just me. No big deal. JC Sherrit was very good too. :thumb:

Hit stick was NCAA, Truck Stick was Madden...or something like that.

Maybe it was Hit Stick when on defense and Truck Stick on offense.

Yeah I’m not sure; I do know that the whole NCAA football video game franchise went to complete shit after EA/NCAA monopolized the licensing rights. :ohno:

Nice back-handed complement.

Yes, Orms will be a senior. He should thrive in the new no-huddle/spread offense. That's if he's healthy. He's got a knee injury from last season that still lingers.

Better than the horticulture and home-ec classes at MSU. :coffee:

I spoke with Jace during the spring and he said he was taking summer classes and should be ready to go this fall. That was a while ago so I'm not sure what's going on.
