I can safely say if you think that you haven't watched Southern play in the last 2-3 years.SuperHornet wrote:By now, I think that would be a step down for Southern. The only team there that would be anything of a challenge would be CatMom's crew.
Oh, I've seen the Bayou Classic in the last few years. My point was more how much the WAC has fallen, not how good (or bad) Southern is.tampajag wrote:I can safely say if you think that you haven't watched Southern play in the last 2-3 years.SuperHornet wrote:By now, I think that would be a step down for Southern. My statement is indicative of how far Southern has fallen. Teams like Texas St are much better than SU at this point. NMSU would take them to the woodshed.SuperHornet wrote:Oh, I've seen the Bayou Classic in the last few years. please don't try to reason with logical statements with SH. He is so far gone into his own little world about how good, or bad, teams are it isn't worth it.tampajag wrote:My statement is indicative of how far Southern has fallen. All because Sac State didn't get an invite to the WAC.clenz wrote:please don't try to reason with logical statements with SH. Uh, actually, word on the street is that Sac DID have a full-membership invite from the WAC and TURNED IT DOWN.Mike Johnson wrote:All because Sac State didn't get an invite to the WAC.clenz wrote: please don't try to reason with logical statements with SH. Beside all 9 WAC schools were rated higher than Texas State last year--even the five remaining. The five remaining still average better ratings than the Sun Belt and they have larger athletics budgets, but that doesn't stop people from believing that they have fallen below the Sun Belt and most if not all FCS.
Word on the street? How about some, hell ANY kind of proof supporting that, Sally.SuperHornet wrote:Uh, actually, word on the street is that Sac DID have a full-membership invite from the WAC and TURNED IT DOWN.Mike Johnson wrote:

FWIW, Mike, Sac State already IS a proud member of the WAC. ASSOCIATE member, yes, but a member nonetheless. Or have you forgotten that?

Yes, associate member, just like Southern Utah.SuperHornet wrote:Mike Johnson wrote:Uh, actually, word on the street is that Sac DID have a full-membership invite from the WAC and TURNED IT DOWN.

And the usual suspect is to blame for derailing it.tampajag wrote:Dammit!!! this is a Southern thread not a Sac St thread
No CA FCS school will have money for additional scholarships, facilities, etc. Both the UC and CSU systems were cut $750M each under the recently passed CA budget….and the university systems will be on the hook for additional cuts if the Dems optimistic tax revenue projections are not met by the spring. Basically everyone will be in survival mode for the upcoming future and I expect a lot of in-fighting at the various universities about where the cuts should be made. Best believe academia will target athletics and paint the department as a complete waste of funds.Mike Johnson wrote:BTW, Sac State state replied to an inquiry (not an offer) that there was no way Sac State could upgrade the football program to FBS standards (minimum average of 15,000 fans per game and minimum of 77 scholarships). Of course, a lot of people confuse inquiries with offers, but offers can only come from the board--the member institution presidents--and have only gone to three institutions from the WAC in the past year. Inquiries from the commissioner are much more common (as they are in all conferences).
Hey now I've had a hand in it this time as well...give credit where credit is due.Grizalltheway wrote:And the usual suspect is to blame for derailing it.tampajag wrote:Dammit!!! this is a Southern thread not a Sac St thread
