To kinda liven up the discussion a bit I am gonna start a discussion of running backs to run concurrent with the quarterbacks discusssion that I started yesterday as well.

Charleston Southern
BJ Hackworth 39 Rush 188 Yds 0 TD
Teddy Allen 24 Rush 85 Yds 0 TD

Coastal Carolina
Aaron Jones 26 Rush 152 Yds 1 TD
Marcus Whitener 35 Rush 112 Yds 1 TD

Gardner-Webb
Patrick Hall 154 Rush 616 Yds 5 TD
Juanne Blount 126 Rush 494 Yds 3 TD

Liberty
SirChauncey Holloway 108 Rush 524 Yards 10 TD
Korrey Davis 58 Rush 218 Yds 1 TD

Presbyterian
Lance Byrd 76 Rush 339 Yds 2 TD
Seth Moreland 6 Rush 1 Yd 0 TD

Stony Brook
Miguel Maysonet 176 Rush 1128 Yds 12 TD
Brock Jackolski 149 Rush 1029 Yds 9 TD

VMI
Chaz Jones 133 Rush 502 Yds 6 TD
TJ Talley 1 Rush 0 Yds 0 TDs

Stony Brook's "Hofstra Boys" Miguel Maysonet and Brock Jackolski made quite a splash in their first season in the Big South, finishing 1-2 in rushing yards and 1-3 in Rushing TDs. Liberty's SirChauncey Holloway split the Seawolf pair in TDs while Trandon Dendy of PC finished third among RBs. Of the top RBs last year, 6 are back with Stony Brook and G-W the only teams with two running backs in the top 10. Liberty returns Hollloway and welcomes Aldreakis Allen back for 2011. Coastal Carolina, Presbyterian and Charleston Southern are all looking to replace their top running back for 2011. TJ Talley moves from WR (SE to be specific) to TB to replace Gabe Itoka.

If I had to rank the running backs for 2011 (team wise) itd look like this:

1. Stony Brook
2. Gardner-Webb
3. Liberty
4. VMI
5. Presbyterian
6. Coastal Carolina
7. Charleston Southern

If I had to rank them individually Itd look like this:

1. Miguel Maysonet SBU
2. Brock Jackolski SBU
3. SirChauncey Holloway Liberty
4. Patrick Hall G-W
5. Lance Byrd PC
6. Chaz Jones, VMI
7. Juanne Blount G-W
8. Korrey Davis, Liberty
9. BJ Hackworth, CSU
10. TJ Talley, VMI

Ed Gowins is healthy and will return this season after taking a medical redshirt last year. Our running game should not be an issue.

VMI: Gabe Itoka graduated (he was a true Senior in 2010).........T J Talley has been moved from SE to TB to compliment Cz. Jones.

Look for Teddy Allen to make some noise. Kid is wicked fast and looked good all spring. Still to be seen just how the offense is going to look with Dixon such a run threat at QB. Mills didn't show his hand to much in that regard this spring.

As for G-Dubbs RB's listed, Patrick Hall has graduated from the program. That leaves Juan Blount, Kenny Little (coming off a medical redshirt) and quick as greased lightening Ricky Rhodes a converted DB as the top 3 on the depth chart. Little and Rhodes looked good in Spring Ball, Blount sat out Spring Ball coming off off-season shoulder surgery.

Gowins seems like one of the best kept secrets in fcs football, which is strange for someone who averaged 9.4 ypc as a freshman.

Like I said in the WR thread, I think you'll see jackolski playing wr because Maysonet, Gowins, and Jackolski are too good to be sharing carries three ways.

I'm pretty stoked about incoming freshman running back, DeAngelo Henderson, out of Summerville High.
