As usual, the BSC steps up and plays REAL I-A teams, not those faux I-A teams from the Sun Belch and Conference USA...

On the flip side, there's so little OOC to chose from that there's some real stinkers on the schedules as well:

Lindenwood @ Northern Colorado
Southern Oregon @ Portland State
Willamette @ Portland State

I REALLY hate scheduling like this. Montana only has 9 counters, so must go 7-2 assuming a loss at Tennessee. Portland State only has 8 counters, and must go 7-1 in conference to even be considered for the playoffs. Why is it so hard for AD's to figure out: Don't schedule UP and DOWN in the same effing year!!!



At least Weber has scheduled I-A teams that are capable of being beaten....

Grizo broke a story a couple weeks ago at lunch about Forceir (sp) possibly coming to Missoula to play for the Griz. I couldn't believe my ears.

I can almost see one, but two? WTF, Portland State?

Also, I like that NAU has traditionally played one of the Pac-10 Arizona schools, makes a lot of sense since it keeps the money in-state. I think EWU is also going this route, with UW in 2011 and the WSU in 2012 and 2013 I think? Strange that we have played pretty much ever Pac-10 team under the sun in the past but never UW or WSU.

We also play Idaho in 2012. Wish we could have had them in 2010 or 2011. They ended the series in 2003 after we beat them in the Kibble Dome.

I just looked. They lost to EWU and Montana that year.

I heard a rumor that Easterrn is out of their game with Idaho in 2012. I think it was because Idaho found someone willing to pay big bucks a bodybag game. Frankly, if this is true, it's good. Even though Idaho is a beatable FBS team, I hate having 2 on our schedule in the same year.

You know what the last two seasons in which Eastern didn't make the playoffs had in common? Two FBS opponents.

Agreed wholeheartedly. And WSU is a more beatable FBS team anyways.

Hope so, because:

A. I think they will have to buy us out if this is the case, so win-win there.
B. Other than them being somewhat beatable, there's really no benefit in us playing them. They don't provide a big pay day, plus we play WSU that year anyway.

If we have to play a true body-bag game every year, then I'd rather stick to the big BCS conferences that pay big bucks like the Big XII and Pac 10 teams in the past.

Also, agree about not playing two FBS teams (let alone BCS) in the same year. Although we were a few seconds away from beating Colorado in 2008 and pissed the game away. We played Texas Tech pretty tough that year, too. But take away one of those games and replace it with an FCS and we are probably at 7-4 and in the playoffs in 2008.

I like it when Weber schedules FBS teams that are beatable, unlike last year when we played BC and Texas T, and Wyoming and USU are very beatable

And gotta love that long awaited matchup with the T-Birds
