There has never been one put on the list before but I listed Bevins just in case it happens this year. He is highly decorated so I didn't want to leave him out, regardless if he is listed or not.

FS Mike McElroy will play his way on to the Buchanan list from what I saw this spring.

Liberty the only team with 2. Add in the 1 other considered. We are very talented this year.

Matt and Zach Johnson from EWU both have the potential to put some Buchanon worthy stats. The SUU QB is in the same boat.

Not really because of what he has done but because of the type of season I would expect that he will have.

I think SUU's QB Sorensen should be on the preseason list, and for sure will make the list by season's end.

LB Jake Trantin from W&M will work his way into the discussion. After missing 2010, everyone seems to have forgotten him.

Haven't forgotten him. Just waiting to see how he looks before I put him on the list. Did not see him in spring ball so I will wait to see how he looks the first couple weeks. He's a guy who will quickly be added to the list if he does well.

I was just talking about the Payton award. I should have stated that. And yes that is considered cherry-picking the stats.

Glad to know he's still on your radar. He was his old self after a few days of spring ball. A little bigger, and still instinctive, and lightening quick to the point of attack. By week three he was clearly in charge of the defense.

Tavoy Moore: 2010 Played in all 11 games for the Bengals at receiver and running back … had one of the most successful seasons for ISU at any position, accumulating 2034 all-purpose yards … at running back, Moore racked up 252 yards on 62 carries, averaging roughly 4.1 yards per carry … at receiver, he caught 34 passes for 421 yards and three touchdowns … Moore made a big name for himself on special teams, where he had two touchdowns on both kick returns and punt returns … Moore became the first player in Big Sky history to return a kickoff and punt return back for a touchdown in the same game in two different contests … against Northern Colorado he set a school record for all-purpose yards with 318 as he had a 91-yard kickoff return and an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown. A.J. A special teams standout is not going to win the Payton. 673 offensive yards is nothing to write home about.
