SSU is in the MEAC.
Georgia State won't be in the CAA until next year so is still an independent.
If WAC-bound Texas State is an independent than so is UT-San Antonio.
Also, South Alabama is an independent FCS program this year.

Are the directional Alabama schools indies this year? I also thought Georgia St and UTSA were indies as well.

Texas State is still technically in the Southland, though ineligible for the conference crown, IIRC.

Texas State is no longer in the SLC and classified as an independent. They have begun adding scholarships and are not eligible for any SLC awards. Now, they are playing a lot of SLC schools but only because they had previously scheduled them.

What about UMass? Does that count since they're like Texas State?

And yes, ODU is now an official member of the CAA.

Been looking forward to hearing those words since 2007 when ODU announced the start-up of a football program. No more status as being an independant. :D

Also I wouldn't consider UMass an independant since they are still going to be playing a full CAA schedule this year.

it all depends on when they will be considered transitioning (ie; the year before they are members of the MAC - is that the right conference?)
TXST is playing a full SLC schedule but they do not count for anything. They do, however, count as an OOC for the remaining SLC schools and the remaining SLC schools can drop TXST from their schedule if they get someone else to fill that slot.
If it is not a transitioning year for UMass then, yes, they are still eligible for everything.

However, all other sports are still eligible for championships until 2012...as they are still on the same level and the scholarships are the same.
