Athletic director Justin Sell said that the school has received a donation to cover the cost - roughly $200,000 - of adding about 1,000 seats beyond the south end zone (opposite the Dykhouse Student Athlete Center).
Construction can begin anytime now that spring practice has wrapped up, and the work is expected to be complete before the Jacks' Sept. 3 season opener
This is great for CAS to get some more seating and put the band in a better spot with more student seating, since that has been a major deterrant to some people I know into no going to the games.

Thats good news. I dont know how much room those seat will take up but arent the score board and a lot of trees in that area?

Ive had good seats everytime Ive gone to CAS but this should make things easier. If I remember correctly the band is usually on the south end of the west stands. Opening those seats will be a bonus for the fans.

Yep, this is a big bonus so they can sell more good seats to season ticket holders.

If you ask Lakes NDSU brought 6000 people to Cedar Falls the two years they've played here...and they might have been (including the band last season) at 2000 total.

One thing is for sure, there are always a lot of NDSU fans in Brookings. Lots of them. This is going to make it possible for NDSU fans to get better seats, and Lakes is correct, there are 1,000 more seats that BISON fans will have a shot at.

I dont know if 6,000 was the correct number for NDSU fans in Cedar Falls (hick town but decent famous daves) when I was there, but it was a lot. The tailgate lot was full of BISON camps and UNI fans were kind of uncomfortable with that. They arent used to hosting so many fans from the opposing team. The 2,000 total is an understatement.

When UNI plays in Fargo they dont bring squat and certainly the addition of 1,000 seats at CAS wont make a difference to them. I like fan bases that travel. Fan bases that stay home are so bush league. Im glad CAS is getting bigger.

You are already backpedaling!

Im saying far more than that but 6,000 is a matter of opinion.

The NDSU tailgate overwhelmed the small time operation put on by the UNI fans. Trailer after trailer, camp after camp, all deluxe and setup for the game. Although it ok to open the trunk and pop a few bottles of bud lite the tents, trailers and RVs of the NDSU fan base were a lot more classy and a lot more fun. Much better food too. Lots of great grilling setups. You should see it in Fargo! Its the best in the conference if not the FCS. If you do come up you have to go to the RainForest, home of Lakes Bison, #1 NDSU FAN!

Um...no that's not an admission.

I can promise you that was at most 2,500 between the two games.

I would like to hear an estimate from SDSU fans on how many BISON fans were at CAS last time. I would say 5-6,000.

I dont think we had 6,000 at UNI either. 4,000 is more like it, but the NDSU fan base was so big down there its really just a guess. The Holiday in was full of NDSU fans. Thats where we stayed. We walked down to the game.

When we go to CAS we like to stay in Watertown.

The UNI-dome has roughly 16,500 seatbacks. That means approx 8K per side. That would mean you filled up HALF of one side. Not even CLOSE to being factual. At BEST it was 2,500. It was probably closer to 1500.

You walked to the game from the Holiday Inn? I 100% don't believe you.

I know the layout of the dome much better than you, I would be a much better guess to how many NDSU fans were there. You haven't had 1/8th of the dome full the last two times you've been down here.

Listen, I know how you guys feel. NDSU comes into the league, has a big time traveling fan base, the largest program, the most visibility on a national level, the Big Show you know. Not an after thought behind IowaI and ISU. The Big Show. Aa solid big time FCS program that is now eclipsing everything or anything the MVFC has ever seen.

I have empathy for you guys. I want you to be comfortable in your new role as second, or third best in the league. You had a nice run. So did SIU but now NDSU is taking over on all fronts. Its going to be hard to take, but I think you can work it out. Put up a few more pics, call your mom and dad and by all means let it out. You will feel better but NDSU is here and you have been demoted.

The 4th Dynasty of NDSU BISON FOOTBALL is here!!!

For those that don't know the dome as well as us, that means they had the blue filled for each game

Image

That is pretty much impossible since the seating layout looks like this before any single game tickets are bought

Image
Silver=season tickets (right about 8k..I missed filling part of L. It should be silver all the way to the red.)
Purple=students (about 5k - not always full but always reserved for students)
Blue=visitor alotment (250 tickets)

NDSU has used their allotment each year and then filled the rest of R, so they have gotten to 500, and then mostly filled parts of S, and some parts of G the first year they were down here.

2,500 max.

Yea, we walked to the game and back. Had lunch at famous daves (just down from the HInn), after talking to the Coach, and left the game a little early (too happy in there) to party at some bar on the north edge of the campus. Great time. Great Fans. Great campus. Lots of drinking and hollering. Then the NDSU Green Suits came in and things really picked up! It was a blast. Ill do it that way again next time too. Its just not that long a walk. We finished at the Holiday Inn Bar, completely full of NDSU fans and ordered one of the best pizzas (had it delivered) I have ever had. All and all it was a superb weekend of footballing!!

That is you admitting that DJH and I are completely correct on the attendance numbers
