The kid was highly recruited coming out of HS and did ok his true freshman year but cost us a lot of games in 2010. Got to say we fans rode him pretty hard in the forums (and at the games)

In the local paper today we found out he has Spinal Facet Arthropathy - usually shows up in older people.
Here's the article which explains a lot about last season

Read what's pointed to in the diagnostic link

Wow. Sounds scary. I was initially skeptical, but the article linked to the blog explained a lot about the thing. Were it the NFL, he could probably sign a waiver if playing were that important to him, but I can understand why TX State went this way.

I just hope that the staff has the cajones to either honor his scholarship or find him a guaranteed academic scholarship. That would be the right way to deal with it, but not every school would do that. Heck, the 49ers (yeah, I know that's jumping a level) don't even have the decency to pay someone's medical bills after they get hurt in Europe on their dime.

I got word back...TXST will be honoring his scholarship for his final 2 years. (if he chooses to stay, which I can't think why he wouldn't)
