Riding on the coattails of Portland's soccer team, PGE Park has been renamed Jeld-Wen Field. The ten year contract with PGE for the naming rights expired January 1 of this year.

New stadium, new field, new layout, new name, hopefully better results for Portland State football.

Jeld-Wen Field?? Why do they let these unathletic poindexters create stadium names?
How about:
Portland Stadium
Portland Field
Portland Downtown Stadium
Portland City Stadium
ANYTHING but JeldWen!

MONEY. Jeld-Wen paid for the naming rights. It is as simple as that.

PGE was already a cool place to watch football. That looks terrific. Can't wait to see it in person.

Its a professional stadium...expecting anything less than corporate sponsorship is foolish.
Its a stupid name, but whatever. Portland State isn't the primary tenant and they have a much nicer stadium to play in than they did before. That's all that really matters.

That stadium may have moved into top 10-15 in the FCS, IMHO

Looks awesome. Are there any seats on the other endzone? Also what is its capacity?

Wrong McDougle, it might not have been the worst stadium in the BSC (Weber/Eastern) but it was the worst one to actually watch a game in...
And finally no $3.00 a sq mile carpet laid over concrete.
Not to mention futball saves a pos pseudo football stadium,

Currently there are no plans for seating in front of the Multnomah Athletic Club (the other end zone), other than what was already there. The figures I've been seeing are that it will seat 20,000 for soccer, same design and capacity as Salt Lake City's soccer stadium. As it is a "soccer" stadium, PSU football is riding on the coattails so no official figures on football capacity have been released, but I would think it would be safe to assume that football capacity would be close to that. Right now, all talk is soccer-oriented.
This is the first season for the pro soccer team, so it will be ready for PSU football this year (2011 season). As it is not owned by PSU, I'm thinking alcohol will be served inside (alcohol is served for the soccer games).
Thanks for posting the pics, AofD. I'm looking forward to my first glimpse of the inside as well.

One of the best things about PGE is that they serve beer.
It will be nice to have the field and the stands configured better for watching football.
The only crappy thing about this deal is that the city is jacking up the parking rates to $3.50 per hour in that district during game times.

parking for a football game at around $15 (for a 3 hour game) that's not that bad...

Parking in Cedar Falls is 100% free.....
Granted I wouldn't mind seeing $5 charged to park. That's 5x the number of cars more than we had before the game.

I'm glad somebody with experience there said it. I've only ever seen pictures, but it had to be one of the worst looking "football" stadiums in DI... it wasn't a football stadium at all. Looks great now though.

Portland St will have a BETTER venue for football now that the baseball team has left. That AAA baseball team that had been around for 80 odd years averaged about 5k fans per game. The MLS team sold out their season ticket allotment. Almost every team in MLS has their own stadium seating between 18k - 27k. They aren't the NFL, but they do pretty well, along with providing stadiums for the FCS championship game, Texas Southern, Portland St, and possibly Villanova in the near future.
