Alright Griz Fans.
Who is making the trip? I am trying to decide between driving with a few desperate fans, or flying down.

I would fly. My brother in law lives down there, outside of Memphis near Cold Creek. Its a long haul from here and I live in central Mn. a long haul from Bozeman.

seagriz - i'd fly it to nashville and rent a car... neyland stadium is one of those "have to" experiences - i've never been, but from friends who've been there say it's amazing.

Thanks for the advice TTBF. I already have 5 friends who live in NashVegas who will be making the trip as "forced" Griz fans. I didn't get a whole lot of bites on eGriz either, so I will fly down and enjoy my friends hospitality.
By the way, I have a Furman fan who said he will wear Montana colors at UT, only if I wear FU colors for a Montana game. It's a deal.

I plan on attending in my copper & gold Griz gear to lend some support. Tennessee is one of the most popular schools in my area (Clemson tied for 1st with them) & their WalMart fanbase is something to behold. I'm about 2 hrs from Knoxville. Going to try to talk some other App fans into joining me in support. Also, going to try to get Ursus to show up...open invite @ casa de Appa...

We hope to be invited to some Griz tailgates (hint, hint)

This is one game where I have no real interest, but would have a lot of interest in going. This would be a blast.

It's not that bad of a drive, SG...I drove back and forth, from and to Florida three (or as Conan would say...thrice) times last year.

k, so appa i need you to explain a southern thing...
why the fuck in the south do people cheer for teams when they a) aren't alumni b) didn't even go to college c) don't even have a family member who went to the damn college?
seriously wtf is up with that? around here the only people who care about the gophers are the people who went there or "gopher families" where multiple members went to the U...

I very much hope to make it, as I don't foresee the need to save for a trip to Frisco next season.

I don't know why that's necessarily a "southern thing" - I would expect to see similar instances elsewhere in the country. If you like college sports of any kind (whether you're an alum or not) I guess you have to pick a team. I never played NFL but I have favorite teams.

Not sure, but I think it gives them something to argue about for the other 2 mos that Nascar isn't running races.
Seriously though, I was raised in a Tarheel family and out of all the members of my family who went to college, am the only one who didn't attend UNC for at least a couple of years. So i was raised to bleed carolina blue. Some of my fondest family memories growing up are setting around watching Dean & the boys play basketball. We were late, my mom included, to her mother's wake because we were watching Rick Fox bank in a last second shot to beat #1 seed Oklahoma to go to the 1990 Sweet 16. It's a family tradition in the south....
Football in general is huge in the south and, historically, there have been very few pro football teams in the south. So, if you wanted a football fix beyond Friday nights, you picked a local college team to pull for....and that get's passed from generation to generation whether you attended the college or not.....it's bragging rights....

That sounds about right. Nearly everyone in my family attended Texas and I was raised a Longhorn fan, however, I came to my senses and got the hell out of that backwards a$$ place as soon as the opportunity presented itself. You can't throw a stick in Texas without hitting someone wearing burnt orange. Hell, even the redneck in the rusted trailer with three teeth in his mouth down the street was a die hard Longhorn fan.

If I was sweet-talked a little bit, I could be convinced to come down for this one!??!
I know I owe ya', Appa!

That
particular wound still hasn't healed!
But, the last time I went to a Griz away game, we lost! And, there isn't anything I like less than leaving the Missoula area!!!

If by "Crush", you meant Brian Adams, he's dead, so that one ain't gonna' happen! If you meant Gina Carano...well, she got beat silly by Cris Cyborg the last time they fought. In other words, although Gina is still smokin' hot, I don't think I'll be going anywhere to see her!
I'd rather spend my money hookin' up with Appaholic than watching a smokin' hot chick wrestle! A couple of very good sources have told me that Appa was a lot of fun to be around, and I believe them! I had my chance to party with him, but I missed it! At the time, I felt a nap that lasted longer than it was supposed to was more important. By all indications, I continue to pay the price for one of my VERY FEW bad decisions!
Two FWIW's...I always seem to make it when Wedgie & the Mrs. are in town, and if Ursus & GATW make the Tenn game, I will too!

By 'it', do you mean a trip to Tennessee to watch the Griz play the Vols, or do you mean a business trip to Tennessee in September that your boss mentioned to you?

Nashville is a 3 hour drive to Knoxville. I assume you can fly into Knoxville. It is a rather large city.
I have been there to watch South Carolina play and it is one of college football's great venues. Be sure to walk past all of the frat houses on game day to "see the sites."

Twintown... you'd have to see it to believe it, but, in SC, college sports is what it's all about. Farmers in Pickens have long been willing to pay big bucks to watch their beloved Tigers play football. Same for the lawyers and bankers in Columbia and their Cocks. I grew up in SC and spent a few years in Ohio in the USAF. I was amazed to learn that people in Ohio didn't give a crap about Ohio St. football. But, stay off of the roads on Sunday as all of the Browns and Bengals made their way to and from all of the sports bars to watch the pros. We don't give a crap about pro sports down here. College sports is our thing in SC.

I would say more so that the Goofs blow donkey dick is why its like that in MN. Go to WI once and everyone there is a Badger fan 1st and whatever UW campus they go to is like 10th or 12th on their list of fav teams, unless its UW-Whitewater.
