TSN Poll - Liberty #14

If the other polls follow form, then Liberty would've met the criteria laid out by the committee for an at large qualification (being inside the Top 16 with two victories over Auto Bid league teams and 7 DI wins).

I said it in another thread: I think Liberty is the 16th team in.

Actually, it's the committee that's the dopes here. Once again, the 5th best team in a top heavy conference gets in. They lose respectability every year.

I would've taken Liberty in the Dome over Maine.
Not sure they deserved in though. That loss to the Blue Hose was a bad one.

Somebody tell me who Maine beat to earn their way in. And someone explain to me how a victory over Iona or Monmouth is better than Glenville State.
This Maine selection is mind boggling. William & Mary I could understand. The Black Bears had no case whatsoever to even be considered.

Apparently it doesn't matter if you actually WIN any of those tough games, huh? They must have been biting nails chosing one 8-4 team (Maine) over another 8-4 team (Elon), each with ZERO quality wins.

Bingo. Just stack the CAA teams against each other and git'r done early. This ain't 2007. C. Arkansas earned it more than Maine.

Except UCA isn't eligible for post-season this year...like NDSU last year...

I'm not going to argue the merits of Maine over Elon...but I would argue either team over Liberty all day long...

There are no merits. Boy do those Bears lose nicely. But they did beat a slightly above mediocre team whose AD took care of his buddies for the second straight year.
Never can any CAA folks ever make a crack about BCS leagues and the FBS. Ever.
As for the two DII games, one was hastily arranged after the #1 seed in theplayoffs pushed our scheduled game this year back a year. And the other was after another I-AA pulled out late. Frankly, either of the DIIs would've made mincemeat of Iona. And that horrendous loss to Presby .. the Blue Hose would've destroyed Iona. And making a cash grab at Iowa is hardly proof of Maine's case.
It is time to move on and I'll do so. But I will keep wondering how a certain AD in Amherst will be able to sleep at night.
And Elon, I am guessing you guys weren't paying attention to what happened Saturday any more than your AD.

Maine's OOC:
Monmouth?
Stoneybrook?
Iona?
Maine's Conference Performance:
Blown out by Richmond?
Blown out by JMU?
Losing to Delaware?
Not a SINGLE quality conference win.
How About Elon?
Stonybrook?
Presbyterian?
BEATEN BY LIBERTY
Again, not a single quality conference win.
Liberty did what they said they had to do. They scheduled Youngstown State. They scheduled Elon. And they beat both of them. How are they supposed to know YSU was going to suck this year? Elon was everybody's Cinderella, and suddenly they don't qualify as a quality win?
Not that it matters from a tournament standpoint, but it'd be nice to have some new blood in, rather than the 5th best team from one conference.
Just my opinion, do with it what you usually do. Ignore it.

I'm sure the UMass AD will sleep very well, since he's ONE VOTE...How did the other's vote...

I know, ECB, CAA fixed it, it's not fair,....
I could put together a pairing...you could do the same...someone going to say "it isn't fair"...
Well, I gotta agree with Cappy this time...STFU and play the games...play with what you've been dealt, and move on...
Not everyone can get into the tourney...someone is always going feel screwed...
THAT'S LIFE!!!!!

Please point out Maine's quality win. And no, UMass doesn't count.
We've said it before and we'll say it again: If quality LOSSES count, SUU should have been national champs a couple years ago. SCHEDULING tough and WINNING those games are two different things. Going 8-4 with your four losses coming against the only four teams with a pulse does not a playoff team make.
NEW BLOOD!!! NEW BLOOD!!! NEW BLOOD!!!

Agree. If anyone at beginning of season would have said that Liberty finishes 10-2 with wins over Youngstown and Elon and NOT be in the playoffs due to Maine getting in at 8-4 with zero quality wins.....well....I'm just sayin'......
