Uh, the played a game against UMass at Gillette Stadium (home of the Patriots).

That's still impressive having 60k at a FCS game. I wish more schools could have those kind of numbers...

spend decades building up bowl game atmospheres in cities with large alumni bases for the two schools...

you think if NDSU and UND (i know... i know...) played their games at the Metrodome every year that they wouldn't put 64k in the seats for it? Hell, if NDSU and UNI played at the dome, it would take a few years to grow it, but it would turn in to a serious party eventually.

If UMass and UNH played every year at Foxboro or Alumni Stadium in Boston that they wouldn't sell it out?

Another thing i often hear about are the bands and that alot of people come primarily bc of the bands. Although It skews the attendance, its a good example of what people want. They want to be entertained. Aside from putting a team on the field.. THERE MUST BE MORE THAT BRINGS FANS TO A GAME.

I guess UNH-UMass was the HWCU title-holder lastyear. ;)
