Meanwhile, UNI players linked to Twitter accounts appear to be bracing for losing a coach.

Northern Iowa defensive back Garrett Scott said on his Twitter account “our db coach just left us.” Varmah Sonie, another defensive back, tweeted “imma miss my coach.”

Looks like Varmah is missing his English classes a lot more than he's gonna miss his coach.

meh. his "imma" is no worse than your "gonna"

Frankly, texting (and thus Twitter) is the one place where I consider such abbreviations to be acceptable.

I am usually a grammar nazi but I agree with you Jay, tweets are what they are. Now as to the famous email from Montana's A.D., that's a different story......

UAH wont elaborate. He loves the "hanging barb".

Language aside, its cool if you can understand it, its a step up for Chris Klieman to get on the staff of the Uprizen Bizen.

Coach Killman was announced as the new NDSU BISON Defensive Backs Coach yesterday. There were some insightful comments from BISON top blogger Jeff Kolpack:
The reason for going from defensive coordinator at Northern Iowa to defensive backs coach at NDSU was for professional growth, the need for a new challenge and that it was simply time for a change, he said. If you’re waiting for the “he left UNI because he hated this,” you’re not going to get it.

The state of Iowa is having some higher education cutbacks that are apparently slated to hit UNI, if not already. Asked if finances played a part, Klieman said “they always do a little bit. It was one of the many factors that played into it.” (A bit more on that in Wednesday’s Forum story).

I got the feeling all was not smooth in his UNI coordinator role. He said he was coordinator, then co-coordinator. “Then I called the plays for a while, one year I didn’t call the plays,” he said....more

Kleiman received a $20,000 (about 30%) per year raise for less responsibility (coordinator -> DB coach). Good deal for him.

I hope he is around next year, as he is the 4th DB coach in 4 years.

I would have though NDSU could have used a new offensive coordinator before a new defensive coach. Defense was not the Bison's issue last year. Or the year before. Or the year before.

I totally agree, but defense wins championships. Still a very a good hire for Kleiman and NDSU.

He's interviewing for the track head coaching job at Arkansas

Not true. He was contacted - along with many other candidates.

Of course he's going to take an interview if he gets one, but that hasn't been revealed yet (if he's even going to interview for it.)

No need to spread rumors.
