Both Georgia State & Towson have dropped the Chanticleers from their 2011 football schedules in favor of FBS games. The Georgia State game was scheduled for right after our game vs. the Georgia Bulldogs, so if we can't find an FCS school I imagine we'll probably fill that spot with a D-II.

Any FCS schools with openings on 09/24 and 10/01?

You guys can come to Flagstaff on 10/1, allowing us to drop Fort Lewis

Don't know if they'll do an away game since both games we lost were home games - but personally, I'd rather lose a home game and play an FCS school than keep a home game and play a D-II.

WCU v. CCU on Nov. 19th makes sense to me (you two work who is the home team this season, would make a decent home & home, anyway.........one down (for CCU), one to go. :coffee:

That is rough this late in 2011. Western Carolina sounds like a good replacement though.

Wouldn't mind playing you guys, especially if we could get a home-and-home set up. That would give us 3 SoCon teams & one SEC team with one more open date left to fill - depending on who we get for that last open date, that's not a terrible OOC schedule.

Yeah, but that's their BYE week. I doubt they'd drop their BYE week to play us, and since they already dropped us from their schedule I doubt they'd add us back.

W&M took on New Haven out of desperation for a Sept. 17 game. Western Carolina would be much preferable.

UND has a NAIA transitioning to D2 on 9/24 for the Potato Bowl - would love to have CCU come up instead :)

Good luck finding meaningful replacements. Gardner-Webb has not yet posted their 2011 schedule as we have not yet locked in our 11th game. Sure would be nice to have another BS football team. Come on UNC-C.

Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

Sac State is also looking for an 11th game. (At least I haven't seen a final schedule posted.) Our open dates are 9-10 and 10-15. I hope our last game is a FCS opponent.

CCU has had to move the trip to Georgia Southern back to 2015 because of the schedule difficulties. I was really looking forward to going to Statesboro this year, too.

Yup. Coastal basically fucks GSU, not giving the customary one calendar year warning of intent, which in turn sends GSU scrambling to find a replacement on short notice.

Welcome to Statesboro Tusculum. Fuck you Coastal.

So now, CCU has only 8 confirmed games, and it's Feb. 17th? good luck getting 11.

I'd love for us to replace our D2 this year with an FCS school.

Have your AD e-mail Jim O'Day. :thumb:

What "difficulties"?

The multi-game contract with Coastal Carolina was executed in 2007 with the Chanticleers' previous athletics administration. Georgia Southern was notified of the unilateral cancellation by Coastal Carolina on Monday. The Eagles have won all three games in the series.

"It was extremely disappointing to receive word from Coastal of their intentions to cancel this season's meeting - especially seven months before kickoff," Baker said. "One year's notice of the cancellation of a game contract is standard, but that courtesy was not extended to us by the current athletic administration at Coastal.

Goodbye Coastal to a vote from GSU if an opening in the Southern Conference develops

"Difficulties" = us getting dropped by GA State & Towson

I'm not happy with us dropping GSU in the least, especially since we apparently added friggin' CATAWBA in their place. WTF.

I would have kept Ga. southern, and risked a 10-game slate. :coffee:

Most of us over at CoastalFans are not at all happy about GSU no longer being on our schedule. Especially since we're now playing a D2 AS A REPLACEMENT FOR GSU. :ohno:
