Eh, he's just going off of stars which mean absolutely nothing at our level.

I don't know about that, because GSU had 2X the number of "stars" as Chattanooga.
IMO, the writer of the article just threw something together as quickly as he could without much research. :coffee:

Doesn't look like it to me. Are you combining stars given by scout, rivals, 247, espn, etc. etc?

Considering the size of the recruiting class (and the limitations we had this year for new scholarships) and considering we have a new coach, I am not surprised by the ranking. On the other hand it is one of those things that is good for chatter and little else. Not comparing this years class to previous ones, but I remember year after year Chatt seemed to get rated high in recruiting and then finish near the bottom of the standings. I don't expect that from Huesman.

But either way congrats to GSU and UTC for making the top of the list.

The truth of the matter is that you recruit the best possible players for your system, hope the FBS schools don't screw you at the last minute, and hope they all pan out. One superstar can make a class great and program players in a good system are better than "stars" that have problems.

For those reasons it is hard to say who has what for at least a year. Take GSU for example... in 2010 Monken had one month to recruit and nobody really made too much out of the 2010 class, but I think you would be very hard pressed to find another program that brought in a class that produced 6 starters in its first year, all of whom were integral players on a national semifinal team. For that reason alone it was a GREAT class.

No, just ESPN, Rivals, and Scout.

Now for 2011. GSU is number 1 and I'll be the first to admit you can't really bank on these things.

Have you posters even read it. It's not even this years crap. Southern Pigskin isn't worth reading anyway. Their writers are the most pathetic there have been.
