Eastern would just call it copycatism.
I just hope smelly ol' Tokay High Tigers in Lodi, CA (purple and gold) don't try this given they share the historic Grape Bowl with my beloved Lodi High Flames (red and white).

I don't think EWU came up with the idea of installing non-green colored turf.

When Boise State put in the Smurf Turf, I thought Weber State should counter with purple.

As currently constituted. Boise State was in the Big Sky when that horrible carpet was first laid. Thus, the reason I thought Weber State should counter it.

Ah. OK. At least, EWU is the first in conference THIS DECADE. I'm not so sure purple is as aesthetically pleasing as blue, but they'll have to at least try it to find out.

In the link you provided, it almost looks like the field I did, they just turned it purple. There are some differences but not many.

Ryan: I know black as a neutral color is all the rage today, but I just don't like it. I'd like your end zones more if the black background were replaced with white. Of course, to each his own.

That's a big negative. As for most schools, for Weber, black is a neutral color.

Then again, my undergraduate Alma Mater's colors were Purple and White (so those colors hold a special place in my heart.)

Our colors our officially Royal Purple and white, but our sports teams have adopted Black as our third color, and personaly the combination of Purple, Black and white is sweet

Pretty sure that whether Cal Poly sticks with natural turf or opts for artificial in the future, they're gonna use school colors and go with a green field

I love the fact that a quick little salute gets you a 15 yard penalty for drawing too much attention to yourself, but painting your field bright red is fine.
