Nope. You really need ASU and Montana making deep runs to get any sort of wow factor.

Wow, it took EWU 3 games to edge MSU's 1 game.

Wow, here we go with the attendance shit again. EWU is on a quarter system, which means that school was out for the playoff games. When you look at our regular season average of around 7200, you can see the effect that had on the attendance. I don't know why you people are so wrapped up around this anyway - Nova has already proven you don't need massive crowds at this level to win a championship. I guess that's why this division is so great, because the results are played out on the field, and not by things like attendance figures. :thumb:

These stats will REALLY get skewed once the NCAA gets off their dumb rears and gives Liberty home playoff games. Williams Stadium will sell out every game, and it's not even done yet. 30K/playoff game. Wow!

SH, you make me smile. Liberty's football gameday experience continues to grow in correlation to the football program. As an alum and Liberty homer, I have to admit that your prediction is bold, however. Liberty would see some of the same playoff attendance attrition that the others have due to student breaks and weather.

I thought we had a decent opportunity each of the last three years of receiving an at-large. Each year, we left the committee an opportunity to not include the Flames because of a specific loss. The issue was not with the committee, it was not earned on the field. Next year will be a very special year for the Flames. The Big South is getting much better and we cannot afford to leave any doubt. The seniors have a very distinct bad memory of sitting on the outside of the playoffs each year. If the Big South does not make any changes to the tie breaker rules, I can see (unfortunately) starters staying in the game longer in blowout wins to guarantee that no late scores by the opponent could possibly be the deciding factor in the case of another tie breaker.

With the exception of Montana, is this year really any greatly different than prior years? FCS playoff games are hardly played in front of sell out crowds. But really, who cares? I was at the UD/GSU game on Saturday and that place was electric and loud. Does it really matter that there were empty seats?

2005
11/26 - Thanksgiving weekend - 10,000 (I think it was more)
12/3 quarters - 15,411
12/9 semis - 15,712

this is a stadium whose capacity (at the time) was 15,568 and a program nobody gave a shit about. I will say that the visiting teams (GSU, Cal Poly, UNI) traveled extremely well. There's no DE or UM or App in there. Maybe it was the novelty of it all. I don't know but for teams that are consistant winners and always make the playoffs it's unfathomable to me why one wouldn't go.

And don't use the "our alums are spread out along the east coast." You have to remember it takes me 3 hours to get to Dallas or Houston.

(I do see the DE fans season ticket point though)

A big pat-on-the-back for your attendance in 2005 (13,707 average). We're all in awe. :notworthy:

Couldn't agree more. I only posted this because of fans (notably GSU fans on their board and mainejeff here and on GoHens) taking potshots at Delaware's attendance. I wanted to show that:

1. Delaware sold more tickets than anybody. I don't care if it's cumulative.
2. Delaware averaged more than GSU. Those who live in glass houses...
3. If you don't like it, blow me. (I don't mean you specifically, Ranger. That is simply my trademark motto.)

that was pretty damned good, for us. You have to remember that this is/was a crap program, so, yeah, those were exceptional numbers for TXST. That was my point. A program that has, for the most part, sucked and not had even decent attendance, got those numbers.

Try to understand the point being made instead of being condescending.
