8,600 is small, but I do know EWU was recently discussing if they would have to drop football. Not enough money.

That is why it was so laughable that EWU was cheating the NCAA by having too many full time coaches. Yeah, a financially struggling school has too many coaches on staff.

When was EWU talking about dropping football? What article? You dont know what ur talking about.

Point of this thread is the schools with bigger stadiums get better ESPN COVERAGE!

I am usually the first to admit a dunce statement, but I don't understand it in this case. Where is my logic wrong? A small school in a cash strapped state isn't exactly swimming in money.

I will have to look for an article, and maybe it was just message board material, but I am not making it up. I only make stuff up on the political board.

No I was duncing EWU. Cash strapped AND stupid enough to have too many coaches on staff? Holy wah.

In all fairness to EWU, the too many coaches was due to EWU paying guys for help over the summer. It seems that even though they were not on staff full time, nor retained, they were still consider a full time coach by the NCAA.

Was really sad on the NCAA's part, especially in light of the professional QB who plays for Auburn.

Thumper - Im not sure someone from SDSU should be knocking someone else's stadium. I've seen pics of yours and while it's bigger, it aint much nicer. No luxery seats or boxes? UNC even has some of those. Plus, isn't your stadium literally a high school field? Isn't there a high school that uses your field as their home?

UNI has high schools use our field all the time. It was the home field for 2 CF schools for years until one of them dropped football this year.

Maybe ESPN didn't want to show it because of that horrible red playing surface......

I believe I am completely allowed to rip on someones stadium when they post that theirs is large and that the quality of their stadium is why they are getting televised and giving them better coverage. And yes, CAS is better than that in my personal opinion, not by much perhaps but the fact that it is larger is part of it to me, that and it has no track. OH and like you can trash our home field, which I'm sure is better than UNC's because it also comes with something that most home fields do but yours sorely lacks, wins.

I will give EWU coaching staff credit. If they can recruit kids to play at that crap hole in front of nobody, they are doing a damn good job.

CAS is 10 times better than Roos field. At least CAS has an atomosphere. Roos seemed dead. If SDSU was in the quarters or semi's, I'd guarantee that it would be rockin and fans would actually support the team.

Seriously, EWU has averaged about 4,000 fans for the playoffs. How does EWU afford to have sports? Who pays for everything? I'm just curious.

School's out, and there's not a huge market in our area for FCS football. Just the way it is. We averaged around 7k during the regular season, which isn't great but was a lot better than the playoffs so far.

Additionally, hardly anyone makes money in the FCS, that isn't really the point.

Dude, seriously - go back and re-read the original post. He wasn't claiming that EWU's stadium is large or anything like that. The point was the two teams with with larger stadiums and better drawing were on ESPN2, while the other two with smaller stadiums and smaller draws were on ESPN3. Come on, I know you are smarter than what you are showing.

I thought the same thing as Thumper...that he was claiming that schools with big stadiums made it further in the playoffs. Of course, that made no sense, but this is the internet, so I didn't think much of that.
