The Delaware-New Hampshire NCAA Division I-AA (FCS) football quarterfinal game will be Friday night at 8 at Delaware Stadium, the NCAA announced today. ESPN2 will provide live TV coverage.

No. 3 seeded/No. 5-ranked Delaware is 10-2 and beat Lehigh at home 42-20 Saturday in the second round. Unseeded/11th-ranked New Hampshire is 8-4 and won at Bethune-Cookman 45-20.

Both had first-round byes.

Delaware and UNH are CAA rivals who have not met since 2007, when New Hampshire won 35-30 in Durham. The Wildcats also won the two games before that, 52-49 in 2005 and 24-21 in 2004, both at Delaware Stadium.

In games Saturday, Villanova (8-4) visits top-seed Appalachian State (10-2) at noon, North Dakota State (9-4) visits fifth-seeded Eastern Washington (10-2) at 3:30 and Georgia Southern (9-4) travels to Wofford (10-2), with no kickoff time set yet.

Mixed feelings about this... travel time to game is MUCH worse on a Friday evening, especially during the holiday season. :(

I'll be interested to see how the geriatric segment of our fanbase responds to this time slot. I think the students will be rocking for a Friday night ESPN2 gig, but the old timers' homes probably have some sort of curfew.

I'll be there with bells on!

I would have liked to see the App/Nova game on friday night because I really do hate noon games, but I can't complain to much since it's on ESPN. Delaware/UNH should be a great one.

F. I'm going to be debating this one all week. I'm a pussy when it comes to traffic and my family is a pussy when it comes to cold (although they were there for the SIU game in 2003 which was bitter cold and didn't complain).

I could just make barbeque and have people over to watch.

You didn't hear that the cheerleaders were launching free golf clubs from their air cannon yesterday?

Delaware and UNH are CAA rivals who have not met since 2007
If you haven't played each other for 3 years, then you aren't conference rivals.

The last UNH UD game down there was one of the best games I've ever seen! If this game is anything close it should be wild.

I hate your noon games because they are at 9 am out here, a fact I am reminded of whenever I recall our only playoff experience (playing at Delaware at noon eastern back in 2000). Makes it rough, especially when the wife wants to party on Friday nights. :D

The other side of the coin, I'm sure you enjoy the 7pm kickoffs out west here.

Good luck to all those still playing. Delaware and New Hampshire will be a good one to showcase to the nation this week.

That's just as a good an idea as dropping turkeys out of a helicopter for Thanksgiving

Personally I love the time slot. Granted traffic will be thicker and the temps colder but that is all canceled by the fact the winds die dramatically when the sun sets in DE. We scored 35 with the wind yesterday and 7 against it. Delvin's a bigger factor with a low-wind night game.

For all that may not get the turkey reference .... the greatest TV Thanksgiving episode ever. "As God is my witness ..

Well, the debate didn't last as long as I thought. 89Jr's winter concert is Friday night at 7pm. :x

The good news is that NCAA officials have confirmed that there isn't going to be a middle school Christmas pageant the same night as the championship game, so everyone should be able to at least make that....if the Hens advance.
