Why at Eastern Washington ???

Okay,
I have been reading many "posts/Forums" that are supported by the Eastern Washington Fan Base, and all i see is that they are only expecting 7,000 people at Saturday's playoff game? What the heck is the deal? Why isn't the game played at Cape Girardeau instead? I understand the "Crapple Cup' (your words, not mine) but seriously, there would be 14,000 if the game was at SEMO !!!

EWU is a seed. Seed's get home games until they need to play a higher seed. If it weren't a seed then SEMO would have needed to place a higher bid than EWU and they would have had a home game.

We're hoping for more - but like you said, the Apple Cup is going on the same day so attendance will suffer due to that fact and the weather. Just the way it is.....It'll still be a good time, though.

They only draw, on average, 7400 per home game. That includes a record 11,702 against Montana.
Non-Montana games they are averaging about 6500.
The Apple Cup is probably bigger in Washington than anyone from outside the area realizes - much like the Iowa/Iowa State game in Iowa, Virginia/VaTech, etc...
Either way 7k wold be above average for EWU.

Absolutely, I love FCS Football. You know, I will never understand why communities that have these programs do not get "On Board" and rally around these young people and teams. I have been to every game in Cape Girardeau for a couple of years and the attendance is something that drives me crazy !!! Sure, they show up when they team is winning, but someone tell me where there is better football for your money and get to support players/people that you can actually get to know in the community and be involved. It means a lot for some of the kids to have "support" at the games, believe me, they tell me every week when we are there. Some of them get to know people like me and my wife, because their family cannot or will not make it to the games. Oh well, I am looking forward to the 1,800 mile trip for the game and WILL NOT miss it. God willing anyways !!!! GO REDHAWKS !!!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO THE EAGS !!!!

Part of the competition in competing for fans with WSU, UW, Idaho, Gonzaga, and even the Spokane Chiefs is exposure. We can be having a terrific season and win critical games and any one of the above can and typically does get larger headlines and more photos in the Sunday paper. WSU can have one FBS win in two seasons and will frequently get top billing plus two full back pages of breakdown to our one smaller headline. Regardless of success this hurts our cred as a legit DI program.
All that being said, the red turf has improved the situation.

Agree...

...App's competing with NC, NC State, Wake Forest, Duke, Clemson, SC, Tenn & GA for fans, but still put 29k asses in the seats (& grass) every home game....it's not as if Wazzoo & WSU are awesome programs filling their stadiums every week...

....7k for a non-Thanksgiving weekend opening round...

Hypothetical that probably won't happen:
Would the attendance improve if EWU were able to sweet-talk a home game vs. UW or Wazzu?

It can't happen SH. The Pac 10 would never allow that and there is no way that EWU could pay either of them enough to come there anyway. Now if in some magical world it did happen then EWU's attendance would go up for that game but it is doubtful it would carry on after that.

Maybe they could paint their field Wazzu's color.....or the Cougars....or Gonzaga....

Would never happen - but, the only way we'd be able to count a home game against either one is if we played them in a "neutral" venue........like, perhaps at Qwest or something. We play UW next year at Qwest, but it will still count as a home game for them.
I guess I'm thinking something more like the "Showdown on the Sound" type deal we've done with CWU before. I think a WSU-EWU game would draw well, even west of the Cascades. Still, I'm not sure if either EWU or CWU counted this year's game as a home game, so who knows.

Not being pissy. It's just that your comments are boring and lame. We got it, you've got 29k people at your games. And we got it, our attendance sucks.

I've had this talk with Z before, and he'll tell you it's only about winning and building a 25,000 seat stadium. While that matters, I'll remind you both that it took time to build what you've got, and competition and isolation play a strong role in comparing Boone, Missoula, and Bozeman with places like Cheney, Philly, and Durham.
It is what it is and it's easy for you to say.

Agree regarding location & the years it took to build the program....Kidd Brewer (J Conrad back in the day & I refuse to call it "the Rock") was a joke of a facility for many moons....

And that's all you can manage? You're Appafreakinllachian state! Three time national champs! You beat Michigan! You'd think you could at least muster more than a third of their attendance. What are the reasons, I don't want to hear any lame ass excuses.
