Eastern Washington junior running back Taiwan Jones and Montana State freshman quarterback Denarius McGhee were named Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and both were named to the All-Conference First Team.

Eastern Washington senior linebacker J.C. Sherritt captured Defensive Player of the Year, while McGhee was also honored as the Newcomer of the Year.

Most of the Griz were on 2nd team or Honorable Mention....probably because so few of them actually played a full season. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Fuckin' injuries derailed this season like no other i've ever seen. :ohno:

If this were an EWU poster saying that, you know a Griz fan would say everyone has injuries... it's part of the game. That's where depth is supposed to kick in... right?

I'm impressed that a first-year transfer who didn't get promoted to first team O until a few games into the season made Second Team All-Conference.

Congrats to all the honorees.

Don't forget bad officiating. You've got to be good enough to overcome that as well.

2002 & 2003 were also derailed a bit. The 2002 team started 10-0, but finished 1-3. The 2003 team inherited some of those problems & lost to NoDak State early and had to start third string QB Justin Hartman for a few games.

Thomas and McCaffrey both pleasant surprises. Also surprised the other way, no Zach Brown for PSU. Without his kicking, this year would have been disastrous.

NAU is probably wondering how they could have wasted a season with that much talent.

The Big Sky will definitely be competitive.

Christ, I'm really starting to reconsider my decision to pull for Eastern in the playoffs. :ohno: Kalm and that avatar are the only things keeping it alive at the moment.

Is it not true? Whenever a team other than Montana uses injuries as an excuse for their season, a Griz fan is always quick to jump on it and call them out. It's part of the game... hell, TJ was injured quite a bit again this year. :coffee:

I said nothing....NOTHING....about how injuries affected the Griz performance as a TEAM. I'm talking about how difficult it is to miss significant portions of a season and make 1st team all conference. THAT'S why guys like Severin Campbell are 2nd team (IMHO).

You are possibly the most paranoid motherfucker rooting for EWU. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

You gotta understand something: We Griz fans aren't used to having to make excuses for why our team didn't make the playoffs. You are. We're still working on that, but we can learn from some of the experts on this board (EWU & MSU fans). :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Enjoy your conference title...it'll be your last one for a while. :coffee:

What the .... is going on? How does Sac State's QB Fleming make Second Team over EWU's Bo Levi Mitchell, NAU's Michael Herrick or Weber State's Cameron Higgins? That's just not right. Also, Montana's QB Andrew Selle makes Honorable Mention when he played in only one BSC game, if any, and his replacement, Justin Roper, who played fairly well, got "No Mention"? And how does Montana's Chase Reynolds get relegated to Honorable Mention when he'll probably be playing in the NFL next season. Did you check the "yards after catch" by NAU receivers Shanks and Curry-Chapman? They were Second Team All-Conference because their QB got them the ball but what they did after the catch was embarrassing. Do they drug test coaches and/or media representatives?

As much as I love Chase, he really carried us this year, I don't think this is gonna happen. There are so many quality RBs out there that I think he is gonna get lost in the mix with our not so good season this year. Mariani had a championship game the prior year to help get him noticed, it's gonna be tough for Chase but I hope he can catch on somewhere.

I really do wish the Griz had made the playoffs - it's good for the conference when they're involved not to mention getting 3 teams in.

But the way I see it Z is that this will be an overall good experience for you to sit back and start to appreciate the other quality teams in the Big Sky...

Perhaps when we're done you will sound less like a CAA apologist. :tothehand:

Fleming’s stats aren’t impressive, so I am going with the fact that he joined the team the week before the opening game, filled in quite well when MBT when down with a serious injury and was still able to have somewhat of a decent passing attack when both of our leading WR went down with injury early in the season. (Both WR’s applied for medical redshirt and should be back next season.) :twocents:

Thats a great point. With EWU being in the playoffs 5 out of the last 7 seasons inclusively, it wouldn't really be fair to lump MSU in the same company. :ohno:
