Got to wonder if Montana knew this was coming?

The WAC has been on life support for years. Of course they knew.
Had the WAC dumped UTEP and added TCU in 1981 (I am being sarcastic) we could have all avoided this conference chaos the last 30 years in the west and Boise State, Fresno State & Nevada replacing Utah and BYU would be big news.
1980 WAC
Air Force
BYU
Colorado State
Hawaii
New Mexico
San Diego
Utah
UTEP
Wyoming

We're crazy smart like that.
Hey, Idaho, there's still room for a 14th back here in Big Sky country

Okay I have said this before and been laughed at but I'll say it again. In 2012 (if not sooner) the Big Sky is stronger than the WAC. I really don't see how anybody can argue that. Given the recent additions to the BSC along with the additions and defections in the WAC the BSC is a more competitive and stronger conference. It may not stay that way but that is sure how it looks right about now.

NMSU
SJSU
Idaho
Utah State
Texas State
UTSA
La Tech
That would be the conference in 2012 as of today (and that could change rather quickly)

Idaho vs Eastern Washington =W
San Jose vs Montana =W
Utah State vs Montana State =L
La Tech vs Weber State =L
big sky goes 2-2. Id say they're equal.

I disagree.....not equal the BSC is better. For example you threw Montana at SJSU. Montana could potentially beat any of those teams so could EWU. To illustrate this point UC Davis who would be a mid level BSC school, beat SJSU this year.
Top to bottom the BSC is a better conference

They should merge with the Sunbelt and just call it the Glop of Shit conference.

The WAC should just dissolve. I mean what is the point?
All of their bowls are gone, ESPN isn't going to give them a TV contract with all of their attractive schools gone. Basically these schools are going to be playing the expensive level of football and have access to hardly any of the things that can generate revenue. Plus they will be traveling all over the place, they will be broke in a no time if they stick with this plan.

It makes sense. I remember a ESPN article that said Montana moving up was one of the selling points to Hawaii to keep them in the WAC. Seems strange. Anyways, they seem to be a better fit for the MWC...as Hawaii is a good team.

Well, I watched two Utah State games on TV this year....they ROLL anybody in the BSC.

FWIW USU is 104 in the sagarin rankings...behind a host of FCS teams, including Big Sky teams

There is no doubt that USU is the best team remainaing in the WAC....there is also little doubt that they will be next to leave

Great. But they are bigger, faster, and stronger than the Griz, or anybody else in the BSC. I was actually SHOCKED at what I was seeing.

I would agree they look better than they have been in the past for sure.
They appear to be headed up

Is there any chance TX State welches now? Could anyone blame them if they did?

Texas State and UTSA want FBS badly. They stay the course, IMHO they just try to get Lamar and SHSU to hurry up and join them.

So, let's review. UTSA, Texas St, Lamar and Sam Houston in exchange for Boise St., Nevada, Fresno St. and Hawaii. I think somebody just got royally screwed. Without any lube.
