Good for Mike if true. And great for ISU. They need something like this.

No doubt about it in my mind. Mike Kramer is a good coach and a good man. He got into some trouble with command and control but I would bet against that happening again.
ISU would be pretty quickly a tough team to play for anyone in the BSC and he would bring an even further toughness to teh conference.

I can not think of a team that is more in need of a guy like him than ISU.

Completely agree. Should be an extremely interesting BSC in the next 5 years.

The Big Sky is going to helena-hand-basket with all of these bottom feeders looking to get better with smart decisions.
Really though, great choice for ISU and it should get interesting.

I immediately thought of Mike with the Z firing. Zamberlin had great success at DII and couldn't get it done so it would have to be difficult going that direction again. I also think it would be a tough sell to get a BSC assistant from a successfull program to take the job with all the challenges. Mike is a perfect fit.

A Kramer-ISU marriage has a feel good "Phoenix rises from the ashes" quality to it. The outcast banished to wilderness, carries the floundering program back to respectability and find redemption for himself.

Why do I always think of this guy when I hear Kramer?

If true, this is great news for both ISU and Mike Kramer. He is a good coach and his teams always have a certain toughness and blue collar approach to playing that is very admirable. In my opinion, he really did a lot, both for EWU and MSU football. I guess I never really forgave him for "defecting" to MSU, but I could understand why he wanted to go there, given his history. Besides, I'm not sure Mike was ever able to beat his successor at EWU, which was sort of a poetic justice.
In all seriousness, I hope for both party's sake that this is true. If anyone can turn ISU around, it's Mike Kramer.

Funny. When I hear the name Kramer, I think Cosmo. Giddy-up.

Football-wise, this would be a good move, though Zamberlin's firing is NOT official yet.
They will probably keep Kramer on a tight leash, at least for the first couple of years, given what happened at MSU.
If he doesn't screw up off the field, I'd guess that the Bungles will be no more within three years. The Bengals will be back.

Actually, I do believe that the reason Kramer was fired was because of the actions of mainly ex-players, some of the worst of which he had nothing to do with recruiting, etc. There was a lot of this stuff, but they used the excuse that his graduation rates, and student/athlete performances were sub par.
I think he only had what, 3 or 4 seasons in Boxeman, and he was hired to get the Cats out of the cellar ASAP, which he did.
IMO, he got shafted at MSU because they fired him for doing what they wanted him to do. The idea that he needs to be "leashed" is pure horse shit.

He's not officially out yet, as they're letting him coach the final game, but he IS officially fired.
Still waiting on your acceptance or refusal of my avatar bet for the EWU~ISU game, SH.
