6 CAA Teams @ 7-4 or better? Who's in who's out?

Only the James Madison (5-5) @ Maine (4-6) game does not have playoff ramifications. I am not predicting the following, but if the 11/20 games fall this way, who if anybody stays home?

Villanova (6-4) @ Delaware (9-1)
Towson (1-9) @ New Hampshire (6-4)
Massachusetts (6-4) @ Rhode Island (4-6)
Richmond (6-4) @ William & Mary (7-3)

Delaware (9-2) Conference Champ
William & Mary (7-4)
Massachusetts (7-4)
Villanova (7-4)
Richmond (7-4)
New Hampshire (7-4)

All of them at 7-4 get in, but it won't happen.

If UD, W&M, and UNH win, (and UMass loses), will the CAA get just 3 teams?

CAA fans have to worry that the parity in the league doesn't cause too many 6-5 teams.

BSC could theoretically have 5 teams @ 7-4 or better as well. And we could just as easily be a 2-bid league. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Yeah, but only 4 with 7 D-I wins. 50/50 chance we only have two teams, it's all on Unforced Mistakes. :coffee:

That's true. It would also make for some interesting decisions. If Weber pulls the upset, do they get a bid over Sac on the basis of 7 D-I wins vs. 6, or will the committee see Sac's impressive D-I wins and losses to three ranked teams by ten points and a win over a team that was ranked at one time?

My heart says that Sac wins that, but my brain says that Weber does. Of course, the point will probably be moot as AZ will likely be proven prescient here.

I still don't get why you use that for UM...it's not like EWU doesn't fuck up occasionally. Oh wait, I forgot, iggle shit doesn't stink my bad.

And SH, dream on. Sac will NOT make the playoffs this year. Not a single chance in hell.

Hence my last statement, Willie.

IMO, here's my take on this drummed-up EWU-UM rivalry: Sac has Davis. The Griz have the Kitties. PSU has stunk in recent years and ISU has stunk for more, so EWU has no true rival in terms of geography. UM has dominated just about everyone else over the last ten years or so, so Eagle fans are jealous. They're trying to manufacture something, and Griz fans just aren't buying it. Until Griz fans buy into this (or some EWU guy takes a cheap shot in a game against UM), this is going to be a one-sided thing.

The Brawl is Montana's rivalry game - peroid.

The Griz are geographically 1/2 as far as PSU - our next nearest rival. So to us, it's geographically as well as competitively our nearest rival. And it's typically a game with BSC title and playoff implications.
No one gives a shit about your annual pillow fight with Davis. Hopefully you both continue to improve and that changes. :thumb:

CAA fans really need a Montana loss.

Go Griz.

CAA could be 2-bid also if Towson, URI, W&M and UD all win. Last year one 7-4 team got in (Weber); we could have a hand full this year and some 7-4's could be staying at home. The 2 new auto's and 2 new selection spots could make for some very interesting decisions by the selection committee.

you're assuming Villanova will beat DE and that Richmond takes W&M. What happens to your theory when these two don't win and URI pulls the upset ( :D ) ?

Add a Towson upset too. This selection committee has it's hands full.

He's not assuming anything, he's asking "What if?".

EWU has played a lot more mistake-free football than UM. Montana seems to keep making plays that shoot themselves in the foot, especially against evenly matched or undermatched teams. :twocents:

But you are correct, Eagle shit doesn't stink... there's never much, and it dries pretty quick. Grizzly bears are always full of it. :thumb:

There isn't a game where Montana hasn't shot themselves in the foot this year and I don't think they have a marquee win to place themselves above a CAA team

If the Griz beat MSU (which is necessary), they will have a notable win.

An 8-3 Montana will likely go ahead of any 7-4 CAA despite the weaker schedule. Good chance they all make it, though.

Only UD and W&M are in at this point from the CAA. If the following four all win next week

Nova v UD
UNH vs Towson
UMass vs URI
Richmond vs W&M

the CAA will get five and maybe all six IF things break right in other FCS games. If any of them lose.. they are out.

Now to figure out who would be the 7-4 CAA schools left out in the cold isn't easy.. their resumes..

UNH
big wins - Richmond.. UMass.. Nova
acceptable loses - Pitt.. W&M
bad loses - URI.. Maine

Villanova
big wins - Richmond.. (UD?)
acceptable loses - Temple.. W&M.. UNH
bad losss - URI

UMass
big wins - W&M
acceptanle loses - Michigan.. Richmond.. UNH.. UD
bad loss - none

Richmond
big win - UMass.. (W&M?)
acceptbale loses - Virginia.. UD.. UNH.. Nova
bad losss - none

if all finish 7-4.. my guess is UNH is definately in.. Nova would be in with a win at UD. Richmond and UMass are a tossup.. but I'll go with Richmond.. who has the head to head win over UMass.. if they can win at W&M next week. But this is a strange year where the so called power leagues really aren't so powerful. In the MVC only UNI and NDST have less than four loses. In the SoCon only ASU and Wofford have less than four defeats. Combine all that with the fact the the playoffs are expanded and anything may be possible.

Agreed. They are the UMass from a couple years ago. They've lost to every above average team they've played this year.

That being said, if they win this weekend they're in. At home.

$$ talks.
