Try posting on BCF. It's been all depressing all week long and all they can do is try to come up with ways (threads)to
fire the coach
fire the OC
fire the DC
replace the whole staff
replace the whole O line
replace the whole team
(they're all just a bunch of entitled bastards that just want to party and are there just for the free education, not to play football)
I can't even find anything to post about, or any thread I want to post on.


if some of them would get off their high horses and evaluate
1 - the lack of depth we had on the Oline going into the season and add the injuries we have sustained along the way and
2 - evaluate all the injuries we have gotten on the D, even with the depth. (those guys are getting injured too.) We lost 4 D players last week
We have small guys who have gone up against 9 teams now whose players all outsized ours.
We weren't going to take the title but I felt we were good enough to get the At Large - then it all fell apart. There are a myriad of reasons but I'm not writing a book about it. I don't have the time or wherewithall to even want to.

I think I've said enough.

2. Never take anything personally.

The difference is that eGriz is like that even when the team is undefeated.

I'll agree, but aren't most team message boards like that? I like the formats like this. I think it fosters better discussion of all teams and conferences, not just one, and you can learn a lot more here. Most teams' boards are either "our team is soooo great" or "our team is soooo bad" and not much discussion either way, but you better agree with whatever is written, otherwise you are not a "true fan".

I'd say there are more true fans here and at AGS, not only about their teams, but FCS in general. I'd even say we are all here to partake in good discussion, not only about our teams, but the FCS in general.

I stay away from the PSU fan site (sorry frinq). I can only take so much negativity in my life.

Yeah, I guess that's true. eGriz still seems to be disproportionately negative even when the team is rolling, though.

The funniest part of eGriz, though, is the out-of-nowhere WTF craziness that gets posted. Like today, there's a thread advocating the replacement of Pflugrad with a Class-B high school coach. I also love the "King George" posts that blame (now former UM President) George Dennison for every bad thing that ever happened in the existence of the state of Montana as if he was some sort of omnipotent Machiavellian dictator.

Not even the Lady Griz are immune from the eGriz insanity. There's the one guy that, every time he posts in a LG thread, must reestablish his belief that Robin Selvig (.774 winning %) is a lousy coach. Also, a couple years ago, there was at least one poster that pulled a Paul Hornung & insisted the Lady Griz must bring in more black players because being black alone apparently means better basketball ability.

I like the content on this forum.

Other than the good natured ribbing between BF and the Griz fans, it seems pretty much on topic a lot of the time.

I think rule 5 can be expanded to include other parts of the anatomy. At least from most Griz fans signature files.

School sites are always like that when the team is down. That's why I haven't spent much time on GoHens in the past two years. The interesting thing is that most of the reactionaries at GoHens are the older crowd.

Sites like this have a HUGE advantage because as many teams that are having down years, there are just as many having good years.

Sorry, CatMom, but the idea of a message board more viciously fratricidal than egriz is a non-starter.

You have to realize that some of the most vocal posters on these boards (eGriz especially, it seems) are either:

A) Full of shit
B) Trying to piss people off for shits and giggles (and it's amazing just how pissed off people get)

I don't know what's worse on egriz....the week after a loss or a bye week. And supposedly the decision on whether or not Montana is moving to the WAC is coming within a week. Move up or stay FCS, there's gonna be a shitstorm either way.

Bisonville after every win is "WE ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD AND WE ARE GOING TO WIN THE NATIONAL TITLE"

Seriously, reading that board after the Kansas game (W), then the week after the UNI game (L), then after the next game (W), I swear they are the most bi-polar people in the world.

They went from preseason being a 5-7 win team, to after the Kanasas game being undefeted and winning the national title, to after the UNI game being a 4 win team, to after the next game winning the national title again.

Speaking of moving up. SAM just got the results of their feasibility study and the recommendation was....forget it

And seriously, our favorite SAM poster said that some of the things they stated for improvement even TXST wouldn't be in a place to satisfy. Hey, what the hell does that matter...we're going anyway.

Sad thing is egriz used to be a site that even fans of other teams would visit to strike up some friendly banter with the mostly sane Griz fans that posted over there. Now, it seems like It's completely dominated by folks who have been following Big Sky/Montana football for about a day - every thread is about moving to the WAC, bashing student-athletes (fucking lame), trashing every other FCS school, and how shitty the Big Sky is. The only time I post over there anymore is to correct some egregious comment that is completely untrue. People will flat out make shit up to try and validate a point. There are, of course the few good posters like Re-Max who try to keep thing somewhat rational, but guys like him seem to be in the minority these days.......

The hate and atrocities one can create from behind the mask of the computer is downright appalling, especially in this day and age. I don't want to be told that being that my team sucks, I must suck for being a fan of that team, and because my team sucks, my opinions aren't worth anything because I'm a fan of a team that sucks. I also want a forum to point out a good play or a good player from another team as I see it and not be told that I am not a "true fan" by highlighting a good play from the rival team or a good player from that team. I am a fan of Portland State, but I am also a fan of football (and good football at that).

I've always believed that you can learn more hanging out with a bunch of people who disagree with you than hanging out with those who agree, if you are willing to listen.

Well, that's why I stopped posting over there, too.
But it's not so common on BCF to have 2 pages of the above crap. It kinda got better with the news of the WAC announcement tomorrow.
Don't worry, I'm still going to haunt the hell out of all of you guys after the move. I'm too into the playoffs and.....I kinda like all of you (ok, most of you)
