What's yours? I sure hope its better than what the bright minds in the MEAC office have come up with...
MEAC Football Tie-Breaker System
Two-Team or Multiple-Team Tie – If the tied teams played each other, head-to-head competition will be used to determine the representative.
For multiple ties, head-to-head record vs. all teams tied.
If a tie still exists then the following shall be used:
1) Points
A) Count six (6) points for a win against a Division I-A team;
B) Count four (4) points for a non-conference Division I-AA win;
C) Count one (1) point for a win against a Division II team, OR, subtract a point for a loss against a Division II team;
The team with the highest point total shall be the Automatic Qualifier for the NCAA Playoffs or the specified Bowl game, whichever is applicable.
2) Coin Toss
Point system? Seriously? That basically penalizes a team for playing a tougher schedule.

MVFC doesn't utilize non-conference games what-so-ever (except for the last tiebreaker, which goes by GPI, which factors in non-conf to some extent, although I don't think it has ever come down to that tiebreaker clause)
4.2.2 NCAA Automatic Qualifier. Ties shall be broken to determine the team
which receives the automatic bid to the NCAA championship as follows:
- In the event of a two-team tie in the round robin result, the tie will
be broken by:
- Head-to-head match-up
- Each team's record against the next highest ranked team
- If three or more teams are tied:
- Comparison of cumulative records involving games with the tied teams. For example, if a team is 2-0 against two
other tied teams, that team will be declared champion.
- Each team's record against the next highest ranked team, excluding the teams which are tied.
For example, Teams A, B, & C are tied. Team D finished 4th.
Case #1: A beat D; B & C lost to D. A is the champion.
Case #2: A & B beat D; C lost to D. C is eliminated and the champion is the winner of A & B head-to-head.
Case #3: A, B & C all beat (or lost to) D. Go to their records against the 5th place team to break the tie. If still tied, consider records against 6th and then 7th place teams.
- The latest available GPI ranking prior to NCAA selection shall be used as the final tiebreaker.

How so? If teams are tied, it looks as it the one that played to tougher schedule will have more points.

It only really penalizes teams that play DII (or NAIA) teams. though I suppose it also somewhat penalizes teams that schedule FBS money games that they have no hope of winning.

Team A plays Savannah State and wins, 4 points
Team B plays App State and loses, 0 points
makes no difference who it is you beat, as long as they are FCS, you'll get the 4 points.

I see what you mean. I was thinking that the teams had identical records even if you include OOC games, but that isn't how they are doing it.

Yeah and combine that with playing an FBS school as well and you fall even further back. This system can potentially keep a battle tested squad out in favor of a team feeding on cupcakes. I would be in favor of using the GPI like the MVFC does, but it isn't even considered...

Big Sky Conference Tie-Break rules
1. Consider head to head during conference seasons play
2. Record against conference team in descending order of finish beginning with the number 1 team. In multiple ties, if one team can be eliminated go back to #1 to break the remaining tie.
3. Sagarin rating
4. flip a coin
