My preseason pick to win the NEC AQ came through. :thumb:

Now it should be interesting to see where the bracket falls out for them. They'll be in any game they play in the playoffs. You can bank on that.

I didn't think they had it in them, but this is a legit team. They will play with anyone, and I really expect a win!

Likely first round opponents:

1) at Lehigh
2) at UMass
3) at Liberty

I really hope they get to play someone other than Liberty - not because I think they won't win, just because I hate the rematch. I hope the NCAA doesn't do it.

Congratulations to RMU and Coach Joe Walton. You are clearly the best in the NEC. Now go out there and make us proud! :thumb:

What about @ 'Nova? Aren't they within 400 miles?

He wrote that before Nova lost to URI, assuming (as well did) that Nova wouldn't have been in the bottom 8.
Now, as you mention, you'd have to add Nova to the list of potential first round opponents.

In fact, I think its pretty likely you end up with Lehigh @ Liberty and RMU @ Nova in the 1st round with the winners to play at W&M and at Delaware respectively in the 2nd round.

That all assumes, of course, that Nova wins one of the last two.....which isn't going to be an easy task.

Out of curiosity since RMU won the Auto Qualifying bid for the playoffs and are the #1 seed in the NEC, doesnt that mean they will host a first round game instead of going on the road? :twocents:

They aren't the #1 seed. They won't be one of the 5 teams seeded and guaranteed a home game.

They'll be playing in the 1st round. The 1st round will consist of 8 teams and whoever gets the home game will depend on the bids offered by the school. The schools in the first round and those in the 2nd round not playing against seeded teams will have to buy home games. that's the way the playoffs work.

I didn't pay attention to when he posted that. That's exactly what I'm thinking as to the matchups.

Yep. I had 'Nova pegged as a seeded team (first round bye) before the URI loss.

I think we now will have RMU at 'Nova & Lehigh at Liberty.

At 8-2 and playing for a share of the Big Sky title next week, I think EWU is a lock at this point for at least an at-large.

Yes. EWU had to lose out over the last two weeks for there to be ANY chance of getting stiffed. Even WITH ECB, I don't see any chance for shenanigans to keep the Eagles out.
