BYE @ NDSU BISON*

Phones are silent. I haven't had reports yet this morning from the field. Im hoping to get some information later but the intensity and excitement of the Indiana State game are gone. In its place is a workman like determination. The quiet knowledge that today is just another day at work. A slip up could mean disaster. Today is the day. There is no other.
This is not a day when a football team, flying high from a big win, takes the field and expects the opponent to lie down for them. This BISON team will take the field knowing they are in for a battle. 60 minutes of intense football with winner take all.
Another opportunity to write a page in BISON LORE. The BISON, The team that shocked the Nation with their victories over Big 12 Powerhouse Kansas Jayhawks and perennial MVFC contenders Indiana State Sycamores. Last week they suffered a heartbreaking loss when
LakesBison jumped off the catwalk at the Metrodome shortly after ISUB went up 12-0 on THE BISON. With all due respect to ISUB there are more than a handful of fans that believe NDSU should have won that game by 28 pts. Cut those mistakes out, finish those drives and put points on the board. THIS AINT D2!
This week the BYE Fightin Fantoms roll in to Fabulous Fargo Dome. A team that seems to have a game scheduled against every team, they have not faced THE BISON.
The defensive line and linebackers are going to knock the stuffing out of the Fantoms running game. You may not think highly of Kansas but they had a Big 12 offensive line that was very experienced and in tact from last season. Expect the BISON to be disrupting the BYE backfield all day. There will be numerous QB sacks, hurries and hopefully mistakes from a new, untested Fantom QB.
NDSU wins this one. Many think it will be close. Ill say NDSU rout by 41. A victory for the ages – THE PROGRAM has the money, the tradition, the support and the Fabulous Fargo Dome that will carry it to victory in BISON CITY!!

You would have done well to let that one ride for a while. It is one of the mirror accounts that I didn't pick up on directly. I was gonna post that it was some of your finest work to date.
Now I'll just give credit to the mirror and tell them that it the best mirror post I've seen so far.

Its funny, but they had some very good stuff to work with. They are just using my humor to poke fun. Not really the stuff of genius. Pretty easy copy paste change but good for a few cheap laughs.

I didn't say that it was the stuff of genius. I said I was recognizing it as YOUR finest work to date.
Please, for the love of god threads, can we stop the massive overuse of the hack phrases, and termes like "Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery", "Jumped the shark", "even a broken clock is right..."
Seriously, the hackery of some of these phrases has really jumped the shark.

Yes, I do Gil. I thanked them too, but I am a little concerned. Willie claims the post was made from an account with my IP. First thing this morning I figured he was giving me a bad time, as he is known to do a lot. Now he insists the IP information is correct. Since I only post on this board from my home network computers (2 of them) and I didnt make the post, I am wondering how it was done. Im the only on that ever uses these computers. Does this mean my system is corrupted or somehow compromised or if the security of this board is less than desirable or both?
I thought IPs were unique addresses permanently assigned to your computer?
Is there something here I dont understand?

No, and my network is limited so you cant get it outside the house, although I do see my neighbors networks.
I would like to know who did that and how?
My guesses:
1) any of the UND posters. They have tried several things in real life to mess me up. Very nasty folks indeed.
2) The grizz folks, but they deny it.
3) Any of the board mods or operators that could have access to my log in
4) A nasty bison fan
5) A random event from a person so enamored with my humor they had to copy it.
The post doesnt bother me. They can poke fun at NDSU and the bye week all they want. Obviously if they are trying to make fun of me they are afraid to have me know who they are. That is usually the way folks that are overmatched work.
They must have opened a new account, using one of my IPs, so they must have an email account listed? What is it?

If you pay extra for a "static" IP address then you will have that particular IP address. If you do it like pretty much everybody else does then if floats.
Board security...sure.

I know as much about how these things work as I know about my stereo, or phone, or television so either it was my system or the board, maybe somebody associated with the boards operation. But, if I understand you correctly its simply and coincidence and I get a new IP every time I log on to the web?

It's probably somebody that has the same hub as you do i.e. the same service provider in your area. You would only use a static IP if you were logging in remotely between a couple of business locations and it's a $10-20 charge a month. Otherwise your IP on your machine will look the same to you but on the hub side they just give you whatever is available when you are using it within a range of IP #'s I think.
You can narrow it down to someone with your provider, in your area I would think. Mr. Titleist would be able to explain this further if you are wondering about it.

This is funnier than that initial post. JBB is going to be paranoid that the government, or worse, a UND fan, has control of his computers. Break out the tin foil.
To alleviate the concern - bet that you have a dynamic IP connection, which rotates between a pool of subscribers.

You aren't special and have only one IP...everyone has multiple. I just looked in the logs and I've posted from almost 100 different ones over my time here.
