Appalachian State University football will be featured in ESPNU's All-Access series this week. All-Access: Appalachian State debuts on ESPNU on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at 6 p.m. and will be replayed on the ESPN family of networks throughout the week.
An ESPN production crew was on campus last Wednesday (Oct. 20) to film a behind-the-scenes look at a typical day for the Mountaineers as they prepared for the annual Battle for the Old Mountain Jug versus Western Carolina. The crew captured 12 hours of footage from activities ranging from coaches' and players' meetings and film study and practice to weightlifting and injury rehabilitation. The crew even followed quarterback DeAndre Presley to class to highlight the day-to-day demands placed on student-athletes both on and off the field.
ESPNU All-Access featured prominent programs such as Alabama, Florida State, Mississippi State and Oregon State for shows earlier this season. Appalachian is the first NCAA Division I FCS program to be included in the series.
The program may be somewhat reminiscent of Fox Sports' Under The Lights documentary of the preparation for and aftermath of the Mountaineers' historic win over Michigan in 2007. ASU head coach Jerry Moore won an Emmy award in 2008 for his role in the Under The Lights documentary (Outstanding Achievement, Sports — One-Time Special category).

I'll have to check this out. If it's anything like the Under The Lights: Date with Destiny special from 2007 it should be neat.

This is phenomenal news. If there was one FCS program that needed a little more exposure it would have to be App State. I'll be setting my DVR to record the first run and the repeat.

Indeed, they really are under appreciated for what they have accomplished.

If you happened to be stationed overseas without communications for the past three years and two months [please sit down and take a deep breath before reading further], I'll have you know that they went up to Michigan (yes,
that Michigan) and beat them!!!
- Spoiler: show

I was labeled a blasphemer on AGS for suggesting the upset was only good for App State and not the FCS back in around 2008

It is cool and I'll try and make sure I'm in front of a TV for it.

Heck, if JMU was still undefeated or only 1 loss, would probably be JMU instead considering the VT win. Imagine the quotes you'd get from Mickey!

Practice on Western Week? I bet there's some real intensity and focus in the player's eyes through the whole film.

Next week's episode apparently features never-before-seen pictures of Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Doubtful as JMU hasn't completed their facility enhancements. I know I live in Charlotte, but there hasn't been the pub for the JMU win compared to the ASU in the national news.

As if the country were to care much about this. I dare you to name a better FCS program to run this program for.

Was at somebody's house the other day that had FIOS and noticed that App had their own show on one of the Fox Sports Net stations.

Someone mentioned JMU. I'd watch that for the same reason I watched some of the HBO special on the Jets. The head coach is highly entertaining. I'm not trying to be a dick (I was earlier), but I really don't have any interest in watching this. If Jerry Moore were a douchebag meathead from Texas that stuck his foot in his mouth after ever utterance I'd be glued to the TV.

It depends on what people are looking for from this.
If they are looking to see a successful team and how the prepare, then yes App was a good choice.
If they are looking for a program that has a crazy coach that will do/say something that will make great TV, then likely not.

Well, he is from Texas.
And, obviously ESPN has a different marketing philosophy. If they thought having a bunch of incendiary coaches on these shows... they'd probably have Lane Kiffin and USC instead of Nick Saban, Jimbo Fisher, Dan Mullen, Mike Riley, and Jerry Moore.
