RMU not ranked by now is a total joke. Behind Hampton, Jacksonville, and Jackson State is even worse. This poll is an absolute joke.

I really don't understand how RMU is not in the top 25.

Curious - Is there any other team that has a win over a currently ranked Top 25 team that isn't ranked themselves?

Could someone explain to me why Liberty is 15 spots higher than Robert Morris, a team they lost to and that has a better record?

Because RMU is too low. LU is fine, RMU is just VERY underrated.

Jacksonville is playing really well, they beat ODU if I remember correctly as well, don't know if RMU deserves to be above them...

So, beating ODU isn't as good as beating Liberty?

Got it. Forgot that they're top 25 and we're not.

Oh, wait.

I guess I just don't get the fascination with Liberty. They haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet. The two winners they did play beat them.

Are they hanging their hat on a win over 2-5 Ball State from the lowly MAC? If Ball State were FCS, they'd be the 50th ranked FCS team according to Sagarin. They flat suck.

SUU, Texas State, S. Dakota St., SIU, URI, Maine.

I had RMU in my top 25.

FBS win and 5 DI wins. Sure the FBS team is terrible, but it has to mean something. We're going to be stalled outside my top 10 for a while because we don't belong that high, but with all the parity this year, and an FBS win, regardless of how bad... according to Sagarin, beating Ball State is somewhere between beating Elon and Penn... I feel like we should be solidly ranked. There are a lot of teams getting good rankings that don't really deserve them. Griz, for example. I originally shunned the idea of UNI having a similar resume to Griz, but it's not as wide of a gap as the polls show.

It's been a tough year to poll so far.

Seriously, pick apart every team the way you do LU, there's not a ton of teams with great Resumes.

The fascination with DSU is that they're in the worst conference with an AQ in the nation, and they're one of the worst teams in that conference.

Must suck to have to take out that frustration on a team because one of their fans disagrees with you. :thumb:

The fact is that were getting to the point in the season where the pendulum swings more towards a team's resume and prior success than how they are playing on a week to week basis.

Actually it's more fun than you would believe

I could poke holes in every argument of where (insert team here) is ranked right up there with the best of them. Even way down here on the ladder as one of the "worst of the worst", but the best thing about that is that we have no where to go from here but up :thumb:

Anyone else notice they published the names of voters at the bottom of the poll? Scroll down to the bottom of this link and it has the names:

There are four reasons RMU is not rated, especially not rated behind LU.

1. They lost to Dayton
2. Dayton lost to Duquesne and Duquesne is 4-3. They played Delaware and it wasn't even close (30-6). One of Duquesne's losses is a 2-4 Monmouth team.
3. Liberty has an FBS win and has a reputation as a previously ranked team.
4. There is very little respect for the NEC but I feel this is because the league does not have a quality win over a top 15 team in the current poll. This is probably the least of them though because teams get ranked based on resume. Look at Bethune-Cookman who has not been good in a long time but they vaulted way up in the poll after beating an established top 15 team with a solid reputation.

SDSU beat 21. WIU
SUU beat 23. Cal Poly
Texas St beat 23. Cal Poly
SIU beat 19. UNI

That's just a quick glance...

Those teams have all lost quite a bit so the comparison to RMU isn't close, just answering your question.

SDSU might be the best 2-4 team in history.

Seriously

:coffee:

I usually stay out of poll debates. What's the point?

However...

I cannot believe what I just read.

Using the "logic" from above, one can easily state the following:

There are six reasons LU is rated too high, and especially should not be rated higher than RMU.

1.They lost to RMU.
2. RMU lost to Dayton.
3. Dayton lost to Duquesne and Duquesne is 4-3. They played Delaware and it wasn't even close (30-6). One of Duquesne's losses is a 2-4 Monmouth team.
4. Did I mention that Liberty lost to Robert Morris?
5. There is very little respect for the Big South but I feel this is because the league does not have a quality win over a top 25 team (or an ARV) in the current poll.
6. Liberty lost to James Madison who lost to New Hampshire who lost to Maine who lost to Albany who lost to both Robert Morris and Duquesne.

Thank goodness for the FCS. The Championship is won ON THE FIELD (just like the Robert Morris victory over Liberty), and not in some poll where the voters rationalize like the prior poster.

looks like they have some representation from various schools/conferences, as well as others.

they have 16 people listed from the MVFC, though the only name I recognize right off hand is someone from the Athletic Communications (Sports Info) department at UNI.

Exactly. They only lost to the number 8 team, and destroyed the number 15 team.
