The 2010 CAA

The CAA is still a very tough conference.. but I don't think the league is quite as formidable as it has been over the past couple of seasons. I believe that only two CAA contenders are improved from last year.. Delaware and UMass and UMass just lost at home to a Richmond squad that had no QB. Villanova is again very good.. but they have had some injury issues this year. W&M is another very solid team.. but their defense is not in the same class as last years' Tribe 'D'. JMU, Richmond and UNH are all still pretty tough opponents and can beat anyone in the league.. but none of them are as good as they were in '09. The CAA will still be tough in the playoffs.. but maybe not as tough as in recent years.
As for UD.. they are pretty good.. but maybe not as good as they appear. I don't think that UD has faced a real good offense yet and their lack of a pass rush concerns me when the Hens see a big time passing attack. UD still has games left vs W&M, UMass and Nova so we will know much more about them in the coming weeks.

Agreed. I think there are two legit teams this year in the CAA and that's it...Delaware and W&M. The others are looking kinda iffy at best. I'm still stickin' to my prediction that W&M will win the CAA and make the NC game against Appy though (if they're not paired up before then).
That said, the CAA may still be the best league, but honestly, it is the most boring league I have ever watched (particularly JMU) week in and week out. How the league gets on TV so much is beyond me, 'cause when I get the chance to watch the Big Sky or SoCon, I do so in a heartbeat over the defensive snoozefests that is the CAA.

Nova with a healthy Szczur is still probably the best in the CAA and maybe in the the FCS.

True. I have no idea how I forgot about VU considering they're at the banner on the top, and that whole National Championship thing.

I still think the Hens offense has yet to hit its stride. Between injury, receivers dropping everything last week, and a noreaster tearing through the stadium today, Pat Devlin has not had much of a chance to shine. One of these weeks, the weather will be a nonissue, the receivers will catch, and AP will still be there. There is much room for improvement.

I mostly agree with the original posting.
I would say UD, Umass, Towson and Rhody are all better then they were last year.
Richmond, UNH, W&M are all probably worse than they were last year.
Maine and JMU are about the same as they were last year. With a healthy Szczur, VU may be about the same as last year.
Nobody gets to beat up on Northeastern and Hofstra anymore. That may skew our view of things.

I agree with most of this, although I think the jury's still out on UNH. They looked pretty good in the second half on Saturday, but they had a lil' help...
I haven't given up on the JMU season just yet. If you'd heard my drunk ass after Saturday's game, you would've thought different ("Not coming back...it cost x amount of dollars per weekend and this is getting old...inside handoffs are the devil), but the beauty of living 4 hours away is that you've got a nice Sunday afternoon drive to reflect on what happened.
1) I drank wayyyy too much. Stupid Homecoming.
2) It's still just our second loss, I think probably three more until we're entirely eliminated.
3) The CAA is a charlie foxtrot every year and this year it seems a little extra loony.
4) We can beat everybody on our schedule with a little bit of improvement.
5) We could lose to everybody on our schedule with just a little bit of drop-off (or to some teams with no improvement).
So I decided I'd be back. In reality, I'd be back if we were 0-6, but you get the point.
