1. APPALACHIAN STATE: They have to be #1 until beaten, but are definitely vulnerable this year (especially on defense)
2. WOFFORD: Mike Ayers has his Terriers back in contention for a SoCon title and playoff berth this year after last year's injury-filled fiasco
3. GEORGIA SOUTHERN: The return of the option is good news for Eagle fans; playoffs a possibility
4. CHATTANOOGA: The Mocs turned it around quickly from doormat to very respectful team; can beat anyone in the conference
5. FURMAN: The Paladins came into the year a bit overrated, but they are a still dangerous opponent
6. ELON: It hasn't gone all that good so far for Riddle and the Phoenix, but a turnaround is still possible
7. SAMFORD: The Bulldogs can be pesky, but don't belong among the upper echelon of the conference
8. WESTERN CAROLINA: At least the Cats aren't last- that's something for them
9. THE CITADEL: The Bulldogs have issues and may be hard pressed to win a conference game
