Why is Elon still ranked?

And how did Liberty jump so far ahead of RMU? RMU should be moving up the chain equally with Liberty right now, IMO.

I have no problem actually having Liberty ranked above RMU despite the head-to-head, but I don't understand at all the disparity.

But then again I'm not sure we'll ever understand TSN again.

Let me preface this by saying that the beauty of our level of football is that these types of things get decided on the field.

Having said that, from a pure resume standpoint, how is ASU still above UD? UD has had exactly one close game...against the No. 7 team, at their place, with their freshman backup QB.

ASU is winning, but just has been tested by teams that are either 2-4 and inexplicably still in this poll or just receiving votes.

And the most troubling thing as a fan is that it's an overwhelming majority of the first-place votes that App is getting....

That is all. I figured that rather than hitting the bottom of the poll this week, I'd start at the top. :P

Totally agree. Until RMU loses again, they'll occupy the spot just ahead of Liberty on every one of my ballots this year, unless the score differential with common opponents starts tipping way in Liberty's favor. Head to head has to count for something, but it appears it does not with TSN voters.

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that the TSN voters base a lot on name recognition and W/L record only, rather than actually looking at who the wins were against.

App hasn't lost, that's the only reason...that & their recent history. If App hadn't made the playoffs last year & Delaware had, then i imagine Hens would currently be on top.....it's FBS voting logic for an FCS poll...good thing we have playoffs...

I don't know how how or why they are still ranked. They shouldn't even be ORV in my opinion....nor should UR or UNI

Agreed - Appy is ranked ahead of UD this year because Appy was better than UD last year. :coffee:

Are you saying you don't think that Elon, Richmond, or UNI would beat Jacksonville, Robert Morris, Liberty, etc.? Not hating on the NEC or Big South but just saying that I really believe those three would win the NEC easily and you have to rank teams based on who the top 25 teams in FCS are not the top 25 records. That is one thing folks have to remember. There are voters and non voters who believe if you are 3-5 you can't be ranked but what if two of your five losses were to FBS teams while the other three were to top 10 FCS teams and you have a win over a ORV and wins over teams ranked 17-25. Their record might not be pretty but that resume would clearly be top 15 worthy. You can't simply go by record.

Hence why I still have Elon ranked, and SELA, and other teams with not great records

I assume Elon is ranked because our losses are to FBS Duke, #1 App, #20 Richmond, and #21 Georgia Southern. I could be mistaken though. We went to OT @ UR and lost by 3 at the Rock. I think Elon is a good team that just can't get the ball to bounce their way when they need it........ and by that, I mean make a ******* field goal.

So by that logic, should BCU lose a close game to SC State this week, they should still be ranked right? Why do I get the feeling that should that happen, not only would BCU lose it's ranking but the Bulldogs would drop to the lower teens as well
