Just gotta add that the journalism in the article is amazing compared to what we see today....These institutions decided it was too costly to sit on the sidelines, even in tough economic times. Schools adding the sport at the FCS level — all in the South and Southwest — see oppor tunities to re-brand, raise their profile, and promote academic and athletic initiatives. Those potential gains outweigh the tens of millions invested in start-up costs and the $3 million-$5 million in annual operating costs...
