While TSN released the official lists here is my weekly look at the awards. Feel free to comment on omissions that you feel are worthy. Feel free to make cases for other number one selections. It is still VERY early and we really won't have a clear picture as to who the top five vote getters will likely be until the last week of October.

MY TOP FIVE VOTE
This is very tough to project as of right now but based on current resume and not considering previous seasons here is who I would vote for:
1. QB DeAndre Presley, Appalachian State, Jr.- 65-99, 896 yds, 8 TDs, 0 INT, 65.7%, 224.00 yds/gm, 168.35 pass eff., 48 carries, 280 yds, 5 TDs, 5.8 ypc in 4 games.
Reason: It’s hard not to name Presley based on this season as the only quarterback without an interception boasting a 13-0 TD-INT ratio so far. He leads the nation’s top ranked team and has completed a whopping 65.7 percent of his passes. If he keeps up the impressive numbers both on the ground and through the air it will be tough not to have him in the top three, at the very least.
2. QB Jeremy Moses, Stephen F. Austin, Sr.- 107-169, 1193 yds, 9 TDs, 2 INT, 63.31%, 298.25 yds/gm, 137.82 pass eff., 6 carries, -22 yds in 4 games.
Reason: Moses has been breaking SLC records and has a eye popping 1,193 passing yards with a 63.3 completion percentage. He leads a top five ranked SFA team that has some believing they are even the top team in the nation.
3. QB Scott Riddle, Elon, Sr.- 138-210, 1582 yds, 13 TDs, 5 INT, 65.71%, 316.40 yds/gm, 144.66 pass eff., 20 carries, -37 yds, 1 TD, in 5 games.
Reason: Riddle is putting up video game stats with over 1,500 total yards and the only reason he is third is his high interception mark with five and the fact that his pass efficiency is one of the lower ones of this group.
4. QB Mike Brown, Liberty, Jr.- 100-151, 1315, 11 TDs, 5 INTs, 66.23%, 156.79 pass eff., 263.00 yds/gm, 56 carries, 258 yds, 2 TDs in 5 games.
Reason: So far Liberty has been tough to gauge with a loss to Robert Morris but a win over Ball State and a close loss to James Madison. Brown has been a big reason for their impressive play at times but it is tough to put him much higher than this due to the fact that JMU did seem to have an answer for him and shut him out.
5. RB Nate Eachus, Colgate, Jr.- 137 carries, 640 yds, 7 TDs, 4.67ypc, 160.00 yds/gm, 8 catches, 79 yds in 4 games.
Reason: Eachus leads the nation in rushing yards per game and appears to be the top running back making him a likely top five vote getter based on history. His recent performance cemented his spot in my top and vaulted him to number one in the nation.
HONORABLE MENTION
QB Matthew Johnson, Bethune-Cookman, Sr.- 53-77, 812 yds, 8 TDs, 1 INT, 48 carries, 352 yds, 4 TDs, 189.10 pass eff., 68.83%, 203.00 yds/gm in 4 games.
Reason: Johnson has an impressive 12-1 TD-INT ratio and has been a dual threat nightmare for defenses leading BCC to a 4-0 record. Johnson is an unknown name worth keeping an eye on.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
QB Matt Barr, Western Illinois, Sr.- 73-129, 931 yds, 8 TDs, 1 INT, 56.59%, 186.20 yds/gm, 136.13 pass eff., 35 carries, 251 yds, 1 TD in 5 games.
QB Thomas DeMarco, Old Dominion, Jr.- 112-193, 1341 yds, 11 TDs, 7 INT, 58.03%, 127.95 pass eff., 268.20 yds/gm, 52 carries, 158 yards, 3 TDs in 5 games.
QB Michael Herrick, Northern Arizona, Sr.- 72-122, 762 yds, 6 TDs, 4 INT, 59.02%, 190.5 yds/gm, 121.15 pass eff., 12 carries, -12 yds in 4 games.
QB Cody Kirby, Missouri State, Sr.- 75-136, 965 yds, 6 TDs, 2 INT, 55.1%, 126.4 pass eff., 241.2 yds/gm, 40 carries, 145 yds, 5 TDs in 4 games.
QB David LeGree, Hampton, Jr.- 47-95, 502 yds, 7 TDs, 1 INT, 49.5%, 125.5 yds/gm, 38 carries, 124 yds, 3.3ypc, 1 TD in 4 games.

LB Bryce Smith, Samford, Sr.- 63 TT, 0.5 TFL, 1 INT, 1 PBU in 5 games.
LB D.J. Smith, Appalachian State, Sr.- 36 TT, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 PBU, 1 QBH in 4 games.

CB Trumaine Johnson, Montana, Jr.- 18 TT, 2 TFL, 0.5 sack, 4 INTs/returned 2 for TDs, 4 PBU, 1 carry, 11 yds, 2 KR, 39 yds in 5 games.
CB Korey Lindsey, Southern Illinois, Sr.- 19 TT, 2.5 TFL, 4 PBU in 5 games.
CB Justin Rogers, Richmond, Sr.- 22 TT, 2 INT/returned one for TD, 3 PBU, 1 FF, 9 KR, 185 yds, 20.6 avg, 6 PR, 98 yds, 16.3 avg in 4 games.

SS Eugene Clifford, Tennessee State, Sr.- 39 TT, 0.5 TFL, 0.5 sack, 3 INT, 6 PBU in 5 games.
SS James Vercammen, Dayton, Sr.- 35 TT, 6 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 1 FR, 1 FF in 5 games.
MY TOP FIVE VOTE
1. LB Tyler Holmes, UMASS, Jr.- 50 TT, 8 TFL, 2 sacks, 3 INT, 1 PBU, 2 FF in 5 games.
Reason: This was extremely tough as three or four players could easily be number one at this point but Holmes leads the No. 8 Minutemen in tackles with 50 and has wreaked havoc in backfields with eight tackles for loss. He has also been impressive in coverage with three interceptions.
2. LB J.C. Sherritt, Eastern Washington, Sr.- 50 TT, 2 TFL, 1 INT, 3 PBU, 1 QBH in 5 games.
Reason: Sherritt leads his team in tackles (50) and is a big reason they are ranked No. 13 by TSN. He has a motor making tackles from sideline to sideline and has been solid in coverage with three pass breakups. With his reputation he would be first if he made more plays in the backfield than he has.
3. FS Mark LeGree, Appalachian State, Sr.- 17 TT, 3 INT, 4 PBU in 4 games.
Reason: LeGree would be number one if he had caught just half of the interceptions he has dropped, but still has three picks and has shown the skills that have NFL scouts visiting Boone frequently. He is also tied for seventh nationally in passes defended and 10th in interceptions.
4. CB Trumaine Johnson, Montana, Jr.- 18 TT, 2 TFL, 0.5 sack, 4 INTs/returned 2 for TDs, 4 PBU, 1 carry, 11 yds, 2 KR, 39 yds in 5 games.
Reason: Johnson has been impressive showing good ball skills ranking tied for sixth in interceptions nationally and has returned two picks for touchdowns. He has been one of the best in the Big Sky over the last two years and is playing like a top five vote getter.
5. DE Mario Kurn, San Diego, Jr.- 29 TT, 13 TFL, 9.5 sacks, 3 PBU, 5 QBH, 2 FF in 5 games.
Reason: Kurn has really broken out early with impressive numbers and if he were in the CAA, SoCon, Big Sky, or Missouri Valley it would be safe to say he would win the award as of now. He will need to keep this up in order to finish in the top five but certainly deserves mention as he leads the nation in sacks and is second nationally in tackles for loss.
HONORABLE MENTION:
DE Erik Clanton, The Citadel, Sr.- 23 TT, 10.5 TFL, 6.5 sacks, 2 FF in 5 games.
Reason: If his defense and team was better he could easily finish in the top five with his numbers but the sad matter is that team success does way in this.
LB Mark Newbill, Southeastern Louisiana, Sr.- 53 TT, 3.5 TFL, 2 PBU, 1 QBH, 1 FR, 1 FF in 4 games.
Reason: Newbill has burst onto the scene with a SLC leading 53 tackles and has been all over the field for SELU. If he just had a few more tackles for loss and some more plays in coverage he would easily be in my top five.
