OK, so we won't be overrun with Maine fans here, but we're half a week until Gameday again. Back home after 2 CAA road wins & UD's defense has proved it's point as the nations best to date.
My early pick: Hens 24 - Black Bears 10
Let's get it on...

Should be an interesting game. Maine usually plays us pretty tough, plus coming off 2 big road wins by the hens. I think there is a normal emotional letdown after 2 games played against good opponnents and then coming home to play a lesser team makes this an extremely rough week. Even with that said, the hens are too good to lose focus and I see a 34-14 win for delaware this Saturday at delaware stadium. I plan on making the trip from tennessee to watch the game so let's sell this one out hens fans and show our team the support they deserve!!

The questions here will be:
1) Is Devlin healthy and 100% there?
2) Can Delaware return to it's power running game?
3) Is UD mature enough to have moved beyond the JMU game, and prepared to act like a contender by being ready to focus on the next 3 games?
4) Is our leading tackling going to be able to contribute?
If we can answer yes to 2 out of 4 of these questions, I think we should win the game between 10-21 points.

IMO that's the key. According to the stats, Maine's run D is the best the Hens have faced so far. #10 in the country against the run. That said, you also have to look who they played. Albany was the only team they faced that rushed the ball more times than they threw it and subsequently had the most yards against Maine. Albany is also the only team that had a RB with a 100 yard game against Maine.
Rushing Offense
13. Delaware
63. New Hampshire
72. William & Mary
77. Monmouth
86. Albany (NY)
So bottom line is so while Maine's run D is the best the Hens have faced so far, Delaware is by far the best running team Maine has faced so far. One of them has to give.

FWIW Maine is the most penalized team in the CAA. Only reason I know that is because I looked it up on CAAsports.com, thinking it would be JMU. Through their 5 games Maine is avg 96.2 yards in penalties a game. JMU is actually a rather distant 2nd at 76 yds per game.

Maine plays them tough, keeping the score close, maybe even leading through three periods. Then costly turnovers and penalties turn the game in the Blue Hens favor. Final score, Delaware 28 Maine 17.
