Recently, Liberty AD Jeff Barber brought in Carr Sports Associates for an initial consult on the state of the Flames’ athletics program. Last week, Carr was in town to interview senior members of Liberty’s athletics staff. After he gathers information and gives Barber an initial report on the program, he’ll return for more interviews a few months down the road.
Carr’s Liberty consultation isn’t being done with a specific goal in mind -- i.e., a quick move from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision once the NCAA moratorium on moving between subdivisions ends in August 2011.

App St's people have said the same thing about our feasibility study.
The thing with most studies is that you have an idea of what you want to do before it starts. The study just helps you figure out how to get there. Liberty wants to go FBS and be to Baptists what Notre Dame is to Catholics and BYU is to Mormons.

Speaking of which, if LU moves up and is independent FBS, I think it would be an awesome series to play ND and BYU every year for a sort of "Holy War" rivalry trophy. Or just play ND every year.

BYU and Utah already play in the Holy War. Maybe the Holy Trinity between Liberty, BYU and Notre Dame?

Maybe you can talk Brandeis into adding football and then have a playoff?
