MVC takes a beating...

I had YSU @ #7. They go out and lose to Missouri State, 35-25.
I had NDSU @ #11. They go out and shit the bed against Western Illinois, 28-16.
I had ISU @ #18. They lay an egg against SIU, 38-17.

On a positive note, UNI finally figured out how to win a game...albeit against a winless SDSU team. Maybe they'll make my poll this week. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

NDSU was 22 will move unranked

ISUR was unranked (I believe) and will stay there

The MVFC is mediocre at best.

I don't know about "mediocre", but "competitive" for sure. :coffee: :coffee:

No...the view of the conference by 98% of people will be that since WIU is tied for first and neither SIU or UNI are undefeated the conference must suck something hard.

UNI is 2-1 vs the FCS with a win over a team in the top 25, a win over a team in the ORV of every poll (somehow they were still there and they are better than their record), and a 2 point loss to a top 10 team.

It's funny to watch panther fans facebook statuses today vs last week and the posts on PN.

Our fan base went from suicide watch to pretty high in one week.

Gee, that sounds an awful lot like how this past basketball season, because UNI was atop the league instead of SIU or Creighton, or whoever, everyone said that the MVC was down that season.

The conference certainly isn't unfolding like people expected it would going into the season.
But I, for one, don't think that makes it bad or "sucky". It may not be the strongest that the league has ever been, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see an MVFC team make a deep playoff run (I just don't know which team it might be, yet  ), especially since many of the other conferences have been somewhat unpredictable as well.

Agreed. Several of the conferences are feeling a bit topsy-turvy right now. I don't think it speaks to the suckiness either.

IDK...I mean it is October 3rd in most of the world. That now means UNI hasn't won in over a day. I don't know how you could rank them. It's been so long since our last win. :kisswink:

Its been literally hours since UNI has won a game. No way do they deserve to be ranked.

You might be right. A win against a pushover like SDSU is really no win at all. I'll have to reconsider. :coffee:

I think I will have the likes of MSU, YSU, NDSU, and UNI all ranked between 20-25 when I submit my poll. As of now, Western Illinois is the biggest surprise and the best team, they are in my top 15.

I just don't see people giving MSU respect. Any time we beat a good team, it's always a fluke.

It's a little too early for the crying. You've beat a bad EKU team and a YSU team that, frankly, no one knows about (3 point win over SIU and nothing else of note), and you lost to ISU(red). You're borderline top 25, if top 25 at all, until you prove that you're the team that beat YSU (who may or may not be good) rather than the team that lost to Illinois State.

Any slip up the next two games and you'll never see the top 25. Then beat WIU and SIU and you'll be a top 15 team to most. If you don't beat them, you didn't deserve "respect" and you were a "fluke".

ISU didn't lay an egg, SIU showed up with a healthy o line at last and rushed for 300 yds. and 40 minutes TOP.

Right back in it.

I didn't say we deserved it or was crying about not being ranked. Was just saying, MSU has to fight to gain respect coming from the basement.

That's the way it works. The flip side is that when you do get that respect, sometimes you get kept in the rankings when you don't deserve it.

Many years of suckitude will do that.

Yeah, that's kinda what happens during conference season. But in MY poll, the top 3 MVFC teams all lost. That's a beating, and will hurt you in MY poll. :coffee: :coffee:

It's tough for the mvfc not to suck in Z's eyes. He is one that believes that unless SIU or UNI is 4-1 or 5-0 at this point in the season the conference blows plus it's been almost a day since any of the teams won. Tough to rank teams that go so long between wins
