I need to head out to the tailgate scene (been studying/posting here all day), but GO TRIBE!!! I'm tellin' you guys, since Paulus came in against Maine in the 4th quarter, the whole team changed. I know whatever his name isn't in for Villanova, but still...W&M is gonna be a team to be wreckoned with in the CAA. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 2nd or 3rd in the CAA.

W&M 21 Nova 3.. at the half

Tribe 21-3 at half.
Paulus brought long drives for 2 TDs where Grimes finished them off with runs. Other TD was a pick 6 on 4th and 1 1/2 at the Tribe 16 for Nova.
Nova FG came off of an INT at the Tribe 35. Only bad play by Paulus all game.
Tribe to get the ball to start the 2nd half. Total Offense in first half - 183-99 Tribe; 1 turnover a piece; ToP about even.

Paulus has looked good so far..except that pick. Looks to be a force in this league. He might just be the thing that turns the Tribe around.

Final score Tribe 31-24. Nova converts a 4th and 30 with 2 minutes to go on a hail mary into the endzone to make the game seem closer than it was. Would have liked for the Tribe to have played better 4th qtr D but can't complain overall.

Szczur is nova - without him, they're just a pretty good team, but beatable. He is the offense.

Agreed there, but what happened to their defense?

Paulus and Grimes.

As noted, Paulus stretched the field early, and that opened up the running game. I have seen every game (except Maine) and yesterday was our best effort on the ground. Paulus had a couple of deep throws that were overthrows, but in each case the receivers had beaten coverage, so the defense had to respect the vertical game. Also, the defense was fired up early, stopped the VU running game and at least had Whitney running. In the fourth quarter we had a couple of lapses and a terrible defensive holding penalty on VU's fourth down (if we do not hold the receiver he does not make the catch) that gave them the first and an eventual TD.
Still, a more complete game for the Tribe, and tackling much better, and better disruption of the QB. Our kicker/punter is injured, nice to see the backup kicker make his only FG attempt.

Tribe get a little revenge for that Semis loss last year. Great win W&M

This game was hopeful for the Tribe in a number of respects.
- Finally came out and played hard from the opening bell. Tribe had been extremely sluggish in the first half of the previous two games.
- Despite a bunch of injuries, W&M showed some depth. Starters going into the season who are not playing include LB Jake Trantin, OG Derek Toon, QB Mike Callahan, WR Cam Dohse, and P/PK David Miller. LB Evan Francks saw only limited duty yesterday with a badly sprained ankle. DE/DT Kyle O'Brien was a key reserve who is lost for the season.
- Tribe now has two QBs who have shown they can effectively lead the offense. This was supposed to be the biggest question mark going in, and is now an area of confidence.

Read in the Philly paper Talley did mention Nova missing 8 players due to injury (didn't sound like he was trying to make excuses). I'm not trying to either for Nova (congrats W&M on a great win btw), as I know W&M was also missing a # of players due to injury. I'm more interested in knowing how many of those injured Nova players were starters (only ones I know about are Sczur and the Nova center going out), and how manyy are likely to be still out for the JMU @ Nova game in less than 3 weeks?
Probably take a Nova poster to answer this question (Which mean I guess it will go unanswered unless jstclemet addresses it).

Wait...
Wait...
Yes, I am channeling jstclemet...
He says no worries, injuries or not, Nova's got that one in the bag. Nova over JMU by 2-3 TDs.
