Not surprising given the NCAA climate. App did one in 1999 and the result was that the program wasn't ready. Eleven years later has been a tale of two ages (2004 and before, 2005 and after) so this could be interesting.

Good. Because then you can play us every so often since that's where we're going. I won't post it here, but go to eGriz...you'll see what I mean.

I've read that letter. Your AD made a couple mistakes in the letter, and one was VERY obvious and made me wonder about how closely he follows FCS football outside of the BSC.

I love how the first part of the letter says "Don't post this on egriz." It's an amazing read.
Honestly, I think a majority of App fans want the move and most of those who don't want the move will support it. App did a study in 1999 and there was the stench of politics in it from the top brass who was content with the status-quo. One of the quotes from that study from a faculty member was that if we wanted to root for an FBS team, we should put on Tar Heel blue. A lot has changed since then.
Here's the official release on it.

I think this will cause a huge ripple effect on the East Coast, particularly in the CAA.

I will say this and take it FWIW, as a fan of ASU's traditional rival, I still have the utmost respect for them and I have no doubt that they will be successful at the FBS level. They deserve EVERY bit of good will they have ever gotten because they have had something so few of us have ever had and that is BALLS and GODDAMN GOOD LEADERSHIP!!!
I wish them nothing BUT THE BEST once they become a FBS team and it will be fun to watch. App State, I salute you.
GO CATS!!!

UNI did a two fold study a couple months ago looking at the feasibility of moving up, and the ramifications of moving down. Turns out no matter what we do we are fucked but we are least fucked staying FCS

Word on the street is that Liberty will be FBS soon. One of my sources there did indeed confirm the stadium upgrades were mainly done with the idea they would move up. I would be surprised if Liberty is FCS in 5 years.

That's been my thought with ASU too. Why do the $50 million enhancement to stay in the SoCon?

If that's the "tell", then you have ASU, JMU, Liberty, and JSU, that's a solid four. Get some others to jump in like UD, ODU, UNCC, Ga State, Ga Southern and maybe a defector or two from SBC or CUSA and you have yourself I nice league. I know, I know, just a dream. Just saying it would be a helluva lot of fun.

No doubt about it. I'm not sure if that is the "tell," but it certainly doesn't make financial sense (or cents) to invest so heavily in a program that got to the top without such nice facilities for the status-quo.
My thought is, the admin knows a lot more than we do about what could possibly be going on in the FBS once the moratorium is lifted and the conference realignment keels off. If the BCS will remain in it's current form, superconferences will be a given, which will open up spots in non-BCS conferences. My guess is, the BCS could really change (due to a lot of outside pressure, including the DOJ) that would put ASU in a different, maybe better, situation than exists for us in FBS now.

Other than going to a BCS conference, I would probably be most satisfied with this type of conference to keep some FCS rivalries going. Having said that, I'm not a fan of moving up. I want to compete for national titles, not the Nick Papagorgio's Italian Bistro Bowl.

I'm very indifferent on this whole moving up thing...
Don't know what to say about it either...
You all may rest easy now that you have my opinion on the subject...

That would be a fun conference. While we're playing conference gods, maybe get Marshall to skip over and keep it lively.
Delaware would have to beef up the travel budget with so many trips into the deep Confederacy and 22+ extra seats needed on the charter. The tradeoff would be that we'd get more visiting fans from those schools than we do from the closest CAA schools (Villanova and Towson) where interest in football is negligible.

It was on the ESPN snail trail last night. I caught the end of it one go through and it took me a while to figure out who they were talking about as I was half asleep.
