Just thought I'd post this here since I think there are a few GW fans who post here regularly.
Wondering what GW's fans expectations are for this game? Apparently ODU has opened up as 9-point favorites.... I'll be perfectly honest, I don't think a 2nd year program should be favored that much over an opponent who has an FBS win this year. If we played like we did against WM, I like our chances if not, not so much except we are 0-2 at home (2-0 on the road) so the players are really REALLY hungry for a home win.
As for the weather...high of 68 degrees, sunny, and 10% chance of rain. Any plan to make the trip up to Norfolk on Saturday?
Lastly if any GWebb fans on here are interested to read what ODU fans are saying about the game this saturday you can go to either CAAZone.com, MonarchNation.com, or if you want press coverage you can go to ODUBlitz.com which is operated by the Virginian Pilot.

Future, thanks for starting this thread. GW has very nearly forgotten the euphoria experienced after winning the 1st ever Big South Conference victory over an FBS opponent 3 weeks ago. Since that game, we have had difficult matchups with W. Carolina and Sam Houston and the injury bug has struck at some key spots on our roster. We could really use a bye week to heal up, but we don't get that until next week. I know our boys don't like losing and I'm hoping that we will all see a much improved effort from the Runnin' Budlldogs! We are all looking forward to seeing your nice stadium and enjoying some fall-like weather. See you Saturday.
Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

Pretty much a must win after crapping away big momentum gained from the Akron win. Heading into our bye on a three-game downer would not bode well for conference play opening at the high school facility at CSU the following week. I think we rebound and pull out a close hard-fought W.

We tailgate in the light Blue lot prior to the games. If any of you GW fans need some refreshments, don't hesitate to stop by.
PM me and I'll pass you my cell #.
Should be great weather for an important game for both squads!

Should be a great game on Saturday!
ODU hasn't won at home all year, so our boys should have some extra motivation.
With that said, we still are a young team so we can't have too many mistakes against a solid team like Gardner-Webb.
Look forward to the contest!

Interesting matchup. We both run the same offenses and same defenses. So style of play will not be a factor. It will come down to who executes.
The weather forecast will be perfect. Probably lower 70's during the day, mid to lower 60's by halftime. Clear sky.

Funny, but not sure if Blue Chickens should be that bold.

Well, the injury bug continues to take its toll on the Runnin' Bulldogs! Hearing that QB John Rock will be unavailable on Saturday due to a concussion from last week. R-Fr Chandler Browning will lead GW on the field.
Browning was at the helm when he led our O to score 2 TDs in the 4th Quarter to tie us up at Akron. Of course, our D did a good job of keeping Akron out of the end zone in the 4th Q as well. Here's hoping the boys get back on track at ODU this weekend.
Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

Hate to hear that about Rock. It's a great opportunity for Chandler Browning though to know it's all his game this Saturday without splitting reps. I hope he a has a breakout game in what is sure to be a great game atmosphere with the sell-out crowd and solid ODU team. I hope he can stay on the field for the entire game because you would hate to see Beatty lose a red-shirt year with a red-shirt freshman and red-shirt sophomore ahead of him on the depth chart. Did Rock's concussion come from practice this week or occur during last Sat's SHSU game? One final thing, it's time for the injury bug to leave the G-Dubb campus and go reside somewhere else.

We can't buy a break. However, settling on one QB heading into conference play isn't such a bad thing IMO.

ODU had its own share of the injury bug as well at the beginning of the season during camp but fortunately Wilder has structured practices in a way that has limited those injuries. We had a scare last week when Demarco, our starting QB, went down hard on one of his shoulders and had to sit out a couple plays.
Anyway it sounds like your back-up QB can play if he led a comeback against a FBS team. It will definitely be a great atmosphere like it always is at Foreman Field.

Here is a blog with the GW's coach done by our beat writer.
Sloppy game tonight dominated by the defenses. Pretty shitty atmosphere too, but it was parent's night so the students weren't as roudy (probably 'cause most weren't drunk) and the parents sat 99% of the game. As for the game itself, I think punting won it for us as field position was key since the offenses couldn't didn't do anything. One of the worst performances in ODU's short history, but a win is a win and I'll take it. I hope all you Gardner-Webb fans had a good gameday experience and a good season to come.

FINAL: OLD DOMINION 14, GARDNER-WEBB 7
It was really sloppy, ODU had so many open passes dropped. Both defenses were GREAT tonight, in all honesty I think this might go down as one of the best defensive performances in our short history. What happened to Gdub's kicker or whoever got hurt in the first quarter? Looked like spinal or neck injury? Hope everything is alright, wish him the best. Plisco had a HUGE game...I definitely say this was a game won by field position and Plisco helped tremendously with that as well as Smalley returning those two punts late in the game.
ODU now 12-4.

btw. 84 of GW was asking the refs for quite a few penalties tonight after plays...some he got, some he didn't.

How was that last picture not an interception? I was too far away to see if it went through his arms and hit the turf.
Yup, our punter was the difference. 3 punts over 50 yds. and 5 inside the 20.

That sportscaster is an idiot. He kept referring to our QB - John Rock. Rock did not play the whole night. I always thought that the weather guys could get away with screwing it up, but the sports guys are supposed to get it right. My report and pics are on the way, if you care.

Ah yes. WAVY TV-10 sports. Always good for a laugh. They are not known for their accuracy.

My athletic director scheduled this one. I wouldn’t have scheduled them, because they’re too good.
then:
Our kids like going and playing against big road crowds. We’ve gone to places like Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Ohio, Akron and Buffalo for games. We don’t shy away from playing people.
