The current line is 22, but that isn't dampening the interest level.

38-17, Margie and Bill. Welcome to the CAA...it ain't easy.
My original prediction was 38-10, but I think the large home crowd gives ODU a big play or two on the field.

If we get beat by 49, I'll set you up in the Grand Marnier Club at One Eyed Mike's in Fells Point.

This is not smack. You guys got beaten by Jacksonville. Jacksonville got fired up by Appy. W&M is the same caliber team as App State. Laycock was still throwing in the 4th quarter against us last year when he was up 24-0. You are an upstart in W&M's neck of the woods. It ain't going to be enjoyable. This is not Campbell. I wish you good luck and hope you don't have too many serious injuries.

Yea, I think the margin is going to be determined by what Laycock wants to do. They just beat VMI 45-0. ODU beat VMI 42-35 in the last game of the season last year, when they should've been their best.

I really think this has the potential to get ugly. I think 22 is probably about right. I would be scared to bet either way, but wouldn't be surprised if it was something like 48-10.

Andy,
Are you saying that Bill & Larry will do this to us, like they did to you?

ODU is going to look like Custer at the Little Big Horn when the 'Tribe' comes hooting in to Norfolk... :kisswink:

Not smack either...I think W&M can name the score if they want. A few things to consider: I'm sure W&M is already tired about how ODU will start taking over the tide water area in terms of recruiting. I think they send a loud statement of just how far away ODU is. It sends a message to a recruit who may be between the two as well, "Yeah, ODU is a nice program, we beat them (a lot to a little) on their home field this past year. We have XYZ players in the NFL, and compete for the CAA title year in and year out." Not saying ODU isn;t probably the best 2nd year program maybe in the past decade of the FCS but this is just a different monster. Plus W&M is probably still ticked about that UMass game. In a few year this could be a strong rivalry game...but for now, W&M 47 ODU 10.

I'm certain it is going to be a beatdown but in the long run it'll just make us stronger, right Mr. Neitzche?

W&M (-22)?

Give the points & take the Tribe, ODU hasn't shown any reason sice they started FB up as to why this should be close.

We all know that a team can lay an egg in one game. So there may not be a lot to take away from this game unless you actually watch the game. But the performance over the next four games will surely give us something to hang our hat on. After W&M we play at Monmouth and G-W and Cal Poly at home. If we perform well in 2 or 3, regardless of scoreboard, then this young program may make an earlier than expected arrival to the national scene. And I'm sure that our posters will cause you to hate Old Dominion almost as much as Andy does.

Dude, you guys lost to Jacksonville. At home. You can play any of those other teams close, super, but you still lost to Jacksonville. At home.

I'll be watching this one to see how ODU holds up against W&M. GWU comes to Norfolk on Oct. 2 and maybe just maybe with an unblemished record with a geographic rivalry game this weekend against Western Carolina and a long road trip the next week to Sam Houston State yet to be settled. Here's hoping that the Runnin Bulldogs win this Saturday and then next week again on the road. Then, it may possible to gauge where this year's GWU squad is with the game in Norfolk against ODU and score comparison with a win as compared to ODU vs W&M. Not comparing GWU yet to any CAA quality team but the climb up that mountain is long, tough and you gotta enjoy any success on the way as a fan. If you don't, then you are in for a frustrating journey. Congrats again to the Runnin Bulldogs for last week's win over a BCS level Akron squad, a first for the Big South, yet one that was immediately followed up with a Liberty win over another MAC Conference Member Ball State.

Just curious, has there yet been a weekend when 2 FCS teams from the same conference knocked off BCS squads?

I'm not saying you're going to be right or wrong andy but I don't see how you can use that logic. Maybe the logic I'm going to use is incorrect as well but we should have beaten JU by at least 10 in Week 1. IMO, we left 20 points on the field that night when we got stuffed on 4th and 1 on JU's 12 yard line, missed a FG, and had two picks in the end zone. Those are all things that with different play calls or different reads by the athletes could be fixed. It was 28-25 with 4:48 remaining and our O coordinator calls for a pass play with in the red zone in which led to an eventual INT. Why our O coordinator called for that play in that situation is beyond me. The other INT should have actually been ruled a TD when both the reciever and the defensive back fought for the ball in the end zone. What I heard is that usually when that happens when both the WR and the DB land with the ball usually its like baseball where the tie at a base goes to the runner, whereas the tie goes to the reciever.

Either way, we did not play our A-game against the Dolphins but does it really matter? No use living in the past and we can probably still play our A-game tomorrow and still lose by at least 2 TD's. :ohno: At least we'll know by 10:00 tomorrow night just how far we are from being competitive in the CAA.

News flash. Andy doesn't even know or care about ODU. Minus a wlax game in '09. I was sick of the ass kissing that went on last year and I owned it. Next year, I'll be rooting for you, less one week, next year. You guys are crazy thinking you are even on Towsons level. You lost to a F'ing PFL team at home! We've handle ourselves against Big South and Ivy league(and URI) teams during these dark years. Your hardest game last year was against a middle of the road NEC team.

A coaching change took place last year and he tore it down to the roots. In alot of ways, ODU and TU are the same, somewhat. Both are comprised of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players. Only, we're playing in the big leagues and you aren't, until tomorrow. I'm serious about this being an experiment of sorts. Does playing a weak schedule and gaining confidence help a team(ODU) or does playing the hardest schedule in the division and getting battle tested(TU) better a team. I was part of the lasttime Towson went through a last coaching change. We went 1-10, 5-5 to 8-2, 8-2. I'm betting on my own experience.

We'll find out soon enough.

Again. I hope you don't incur too many serious injuries.

Gameday for the Batlle of Hampton Roads!

Weather couldn't be better, and the media buildup has been intense. Hope lots of folks catch this one on Comcast.

Will be setting up shop in ODU's Blue Lot at 3.

Go Tribe!!!

Yep, this should be the best atmosphere for a home game since Chowan. Television, flyover, grammy-award winning fans, state politicians in attendance, and giving our basketball team their CAA Championship rings...this is the talk of the town right now. Hopefully the game will actually be as exciting as the day leading up to it, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. Should be a fun fall day nontheless! Good luck Tribe...er, yeah...you're not gonna need it.
