to join the CAA?
or the NEC?
or the Big South?
or a new "Yankee Conference"?
With the conference shakeups beginning next season...I want to get an idea of what options would be available for us?
Laugh and ridicule if you must, but any positive or constructive ideas are most welcome

I don't see why they couldn't join the NEC or the Big South.

Talk to the Hen fans...they'd love the possibility of traveling down to DSU for a road game.

I honestly believe that if a league such as the CAA were truly an option, a new stadium in Dover would be up before you would know it. Isn't the average stadium size around 18K to 21K?

Is there really a possibilty that either of the HBCU conferences would break up just because of some new conference alignments?

I think Del State and SCSU in the Big South is a good thing.

Paid for by whom? Do you think DelSt would draw better for UNH than Morgan State?

I would argue that the
MEAC would be more at risk to break up than the SWAC. This Legacy Bowl controversy is a good example of the many grievances our members have with the conference leadership.

Are there other school besides Del State and SCSU that have already threatened to leave over this legacy bowl?

If DSU were in the CAA I don't think UD would have any problems with traveling to Dover. UD doesn't want to play an OOC game there when they can make more money hosting an OOC game.

I would argue that the possibility of an increased level of competition and notoriety would get the Alumni off their asses. IMO our program is stuck in a rut in it's current status and needs to be COMPLETELY blown up and rebuilt from the ground up.

What ever happened to that civic center they were going to build for you guys? Every time I go to Sam's Club I see the road leading back to where it was supposed to be built, overgrown with weeds, and a sign, once pretty, with a picture of what is was going to look like. It's pretty depressing, man. I feel for DSU. It seems like they were about to get some sports infrastructure cooking and then every financial bubble in the world burst and everything is sort of scrapped now.
Hey, if you ever want to go up to a real CAA game, I usually have an extra ticket.

And plus the idea of such highly attended annual matchups would lead towards a much improved DSU program.

FAMU's president released a statement coming out against the game as well...and several NSU alums have also voiced their reservations

I just might hold you to that 93
Yeah that Civic Center project was doomed from the start once the recession hit and the City didn't want to put ANY money towards it. Last I heard, the DE Civic Center Corp still owns the land but isn't doing anything with it.
IMO DSU should take over the project themselves...they should buy out Sam's Club and build a Football Stadium first, then move towards building an Arena at the Sam's location. Tear down the (soon to be) Old Walmart for parking. The current Alumni Stadium would be used for soccer, track and field events, field hockey, lacrosse and other outdoor sports. The problem is that the powers that be have NO VISION WHATSOEVER...

DSU would be the farthest north in that conference (i.e. Maine to the CAA) would that be viable to the other members?

correction: Maine and URI to the CAA
Wasn't SB in the BSC a temporary move? Or are they full members?

AFAIK, they are there unless something shakes out with some form of a new Yankee-ish conference.

...that is until the team makes their second trip to that sh!thole of a visitor locker room.

I'm pretty sure improvements will be made to the locker rooms should we make a move.

Big South could probably happen today if they asked. NEC only if DSU wants to give up some schollies. Can't see them in the CAA - just too rich for what they could do.

Actual shower drains would be nice instead of the current flow out into the rest of the "locker room" and out the door set up.

I'm not even sure we're funding all of the scholarships we can right now...
FTR I would support going to the NEC in football if it included an America East invite in all other sports. And I truly feel that if DSU were to hit the RED button...we could be seriously considered for the CAA in five years. But it would be a ROUGH five years...
