GSU just got backed up 20 yards and had to punt with about 6 minutes left. They leveled the return man though.

This game is also on CBS College Sports network, if you have it.

I live on campus so unfortunately I don't. Anyway looks like Navy is going to hold on for the win unless they do something stupid and turn it over.

Well, GSU ran out of time. Good showing though.

definitely, Navy is supposed to be a top-25 team this year according to some people.

No shame in this game. Playing a Senior laden academy team in their house on Sep 11th, we did our best. We shut them down in the second half, and kept them in check in the first half. Our defense is amazing (heads up SoCon). I've never seen it so good!

Not the right people. Navy's a decent team, a pretty good one actually, but they're not Top 25 material. And this if from a fan of a team that plays Navy regularly.

Best of luck to any team wishing to run the ball against GSU. Holy crap! After Navy put up over 400 yards rushing on Maryland GSU holds them to 109 yards rushing.

could the great defensive effort have something to do with GSU practicing against pretty much the same offense every day at practice (not to mention the GSU may have better athletes than Navy)?
I didn't watch the game, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate

I think you are on to something, YT. The TO is darn difficult to defend, but it has to be easier for a coach who runs that offense to scheme for it.
I think the same reason is why App has such a hard time with pro-style offenses this year. We just don't practice against it, so we don't know how to defend it as well as spread offenses. This might not make a difference in FBS, where you have better depth to play on scout teams, but it matters in FCS.

Totally agree, but what impressed me the most was our discipline. We do know how to defend the TO, but we didn't make any critical mistakes on defense. In games like this, you will usually make at least a handful of crucial mistakes that will lead to scoring plays or big gains for the FBS teams. Our D line went up against a very good and experienced O line, but we absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage. Brent Russell and Roderick Tinsley blew up the middle of the Navy line all day long and they had no answer.
In a two week span, we played the worst and probably the best team on our schedule and we have given up less than 400 yards of offense. I don't think it's a stretch to say that as of right now, GSU probably has the best defense in the conference. Just like anything else, that could change next week.

GSU has the best defense in the FCS and it isn't close. Offense needs to tone up, but we are a leading candidate to win the Socon. Next year, just forget it.

GSU has big problems on the o-line and the slots are a bit slower than vintage GSU slots, but nobody who has seen the team play can question GSU's defense. That is a salty group. Any team that runs an option schemed offense (Wofford, Citadel) is in for a very long day against that group.
GSU is 1000x better than last year simply because they are playing fast, hard, and physical. Every game remaining on their schedule is winnable- that's not to say they'll win every game, but they will be hard to beat and that is a huge improvement over last year. They're headed in the right direction for sure!

With Russell and Tinsley, we have the size and power to blow up the middle. Scott and Hill are probably the best corner tandem in the league. Our DE's are very fast and athletic, and our LB's can fly and lay the lumber. The one glaring weakness is our size...we'll see how this D fares against a power running team.

You can make up for it on November 6th. You will be there, correct?
